Sunny Leone was born on May 13, 1981 in Sarnia, Ontario to a Sikh family who belongs from Indian Punjab. She was born with the name Karen Malhotra, Sunny was her best nick name and later in 2001 she was given name as Leone which is given by Bob Guccione, former owner of Penthouse magazine when she was named as Penthouse Pet of the month for March 2001.

Sunny Leone's father was born in Tibet but he was raised in Delhi who was died due to cancer and her mother was from sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. She was very active young girl and used to play street hockey with the boys and enjoying ice skating on a nearby frozen lake with boys.

She was enrolled in a Catholic school and there she had her first kiss when she was 11 years. Her parents moved to Fort Gratiot, Michigan then Lake Forest, California.
