Kangana Ranaut born on March 20th 1987 in Himanchal Pradesh India is a bollywood actress. Her mother is a school teacher and her dad is an established businessman. She enrolled in bachelors of Arts but soon left it as they wanted to pursue modeling in Delhi and after sometime she got contracted by the Elite Modeling Agency.
In September 2005 she moved to Mumbai to get a taste of acting in movies. In Mumbai, famous Film maker Anurag Basu saw Kangana Ranaut taking coffee in famous café and gave the option to do acting in his film named Gangster. Kangana took the opportunity with both hands and did her best in the movie. Gangster also starring Emraan Hasmhi and Shiny Ahuja went on to become a commercial and critical success. Herperformance in only her first movie was highly appreciated and it won her the praise of all the known people of the film industry. For her efforts in Gangster she won the Filmfare award for best debut female.
In 2006 her second movie Woh Lamhe based on the life of actress Parveen babi released. Though the film did not turn out to be a money spinner, Kangana's performance in this real life story became the talk of the town. Critics gave her performance 5 stars and she was touted to be the next big thing in the bollywood industry. In 2007 Anurag Basu once again signed her in his movie Life in a Metro alongside Shilpa Shetty, K.K Menon & Dharmendra. Once again Kangana proved her class with a confident and assured performance. After the success of her first three movies not only she was liked by her fans, but she somewhat became the darling of critics too.
In 2008 Kangana got the most challenging role of her career when she was casted in Madhur Bhandarkar's movie Fashion, which was based on the modeling and fashion world. Her character of Shonali, who is a top model but loses her fame and credibility by doing drugs, was highly lauded by one and all. Her performance in the highly acclaimed movie won her many awards and it also fetched her highly recognized National Award.
In January 2009 her horror flick Raaz: The Mystery Continues directed by Mohit Suri starring Emraan Hashmi and her then real life boyfriend Adhyan Suman released. The movie saw her playing the role of Nandita who is trouble by the existence of a spirit. Raaz: The Mystery Continues went on to become the first hit movie of the year 2009. She again benefited a lot as her acting was widely appreciated.
In 2010 she paired against Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi in Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. The movie was a huge critical and commercial success and Kangana playing the role of a film star has another major to her credit. Year 2011 has proved another successful year for her so far as her movie Tanu Weds Manu her first release of the year went on to become a super hit. Despite the presence of no big names or big banner, this romantic comedy won the hearts of audience. Though R. Madhavan gave the best soloperformance of his life, it was a Kangana Ranaut show all the way. Her second release was the Multi starrer run of the mill comedy Double Dhamaal which also starred Mallika Sherawat, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Ritesh Deshmukh. Her next four movies will release towards the very end of the year 2011.
