Hot Hollywood Couple: Vanessa Williams and Vince Vaughn

0

Vanessa Williams and Vince VaughnHas Vince Vaughn seen Vanessa Williams nude?

No, we're not referring to the former Playboy spread of this actress. We mean live and in person.

Reports are coming in that the Wedding Crashers star and the Ugly Betty actress are dating. Sources say they've been sneaking around Los Angeles together, trying to keep the new romance a secret.

"Vanessa's really trying to keep this a secret," claimed an insider. "She feels that the press helped ruin her relationship with Rick Fox, so she's trying to keep what she has with Vince private."

Snoop Dogg On The Set Of MTV's 'Dogg After Dark'

0

Snoop DoggThe President of MTV Networks recently described one superstar artist as "pushing the boundaries of hip-hop with his signature antics, incredible catalogue of music, legendary videos, larger than life personality and even a little controversy."

So, what's this particular artist's 'motherfu*king name'? Hint: He's slim with the tilted brim, frequently has his mind on his money (and yes, his money on his mind) and he's not afraid to drop it like it's hot.

In fact, it's these attributes that compel a group of reporters - yours truly among them - to the upscale Hollywood nightclub The Kress, past the line of scantily clad ingénues waiting to get in, up several flights of stairs and onto the rainy, rooftop deck of the art-deco hot spot to wait for the man of the hour. When he finally appears, lanky in his tux and sporting shades in the evening darkness, he's an hour late. Doesn't matter: He is, after all, the Doggfather.

Snoop DoggAt only 37, Snoop Dogg (nee Calvin Broadus) has evolved several times over: A Rap star who burst onto the scene in the early 90's with his collaboration on Dr. Dre's album "The Chronic" and the subsequent release of his own hit album "Doggystyle," Snoop has also worn the mantle of producer, entrepreneur and clothier. Considering his recently inked multiplatform deal with MTV that includes his late night variety show "Dogg After Dark," exclusive release rights for his upcoming album Malice in Wonderland and even inclusion in the 'Rock Band' videogame franchise, the title Master of Media may not be an overstatement.

So, how does Snoop keep all the irons in the fire?

"This is me. I was born to do this. It's not a juggle, it's not an act. It's just what I do."

For a man who coined a thousand catch-phrases (Refraining…For now), Snoop is soft-spoken, articulate and mellow. If he's worried at all that his new MTV variety show "Dogg After Dark" is a gamble (remember Thanksgiving's turkey "Rosie Live" anyone?), he doesn't let on.

"My show is a show that's not about me bringing people on here to dig dirt on 'em and talk bad about 'em," Snoop says firmly. Instead, he makes clear it's a forum for celebrity friends to "have a comfort zone and do what they feel on the show. Any time you can hang with me, we gonna have a good time at all times."

The show's format is certainly aimed to give audiences that good-time feeling: A mix of interviews, performances and comedy segments, the show features host Snoop roaming around all four sexily-lit levels of The Kress, interacting so smoothly with guests and club goers, it feels less like a live set and more like an memorable night out. It's reminiscent of the 1959 show "Playboy Penthouse" in which Hugh Hefner chatted up guests on a set designed to look like his apartment. Snoop respects Hef and the show that came before, but shrugs off most comparisons. "Hugh Hefner had 'em jumping outta swimming pools. I got 'em jumping outta Cadillacs."

If anything, Snoop would more closely align himself with bygone comic idols like Flip Wilson and Richard Pryor. "I can't touch them," Snoop admits, "(but) they inspired me. (They were) so cutting edge and timeless. I try to add my element … When I'm done with it, somebody's going to be inspired by me and do what I couldn't do with it."

As for what Snoop can do with it, one goal is to continue exposing his "Dogg After Dark" audience to up-and-coming talent. The show has featured Kid Cudi, LMFAO and soon, says Snoop, we'll soon be introduced to a new group from his hometown of Long Beach. "I'm really into breaking that new talent and giving that shot to a new artist," ventures Snoop. "They might be the next great whoever-it-is."

Having a good time, bringing something new to the variety format and breaking new artists are worthy reasons for embarking on this new television venture, but does Snoop have an ulterior motive for hanging at The Kress? On his E! reality show "Fatherhood," it's common to hear his wife Shante haranguing him about his diet. Here at The Kress, Snoop D-O-Double G often indulges in barbeque ribs and chicken wings cooked up by his Uncle Reo.

"This is my time to play, you understand me? Fatherhood is more about taking orders and being in line in the house. When I'm outside the house, I'm basically giving orders and doing my thang. "Snoop pauses, then chuckles. "Don't tell on me."

There doesn't seem to be much Dogg is unwilling to tackle, but the jack-of-all-trades does demur when asked by a reporter (not this one) whether he'd have the embattled Chris Brown and Rihanna on the show. "I'd have anybody on the show who is in the music/entertainment world," Snoop says mildly.

When pressed to give the young couple advice on their alleged domestic altercation, Snoop keeps his good humor. "That's not my department. I'd bring Dr. Phil in… Or Dr. Drew. (Even) Dr. Dre!"

Later downstairs, the full house is hushed as filming of the fifth episode commences. Snoop slides into a banquette to chat with singer/songwriter The Dream (whose rumored girlfriend Christina Milian watches off-camera nearby). Dogg is undeniably charming and he manages to make interviews feel unscripted and effortless. As he moves to the next set-up with a relaxed air, it's easy to forget that this is actually work for him and the crew.

When asked if there are any drawbacks to hosting "Dogg After Dark," Snoop smiles slyly. "The Press."

No word yet on whether the series will be picked up for additional episodes beyond the seven MTV ordered (the premiere drew a less-than-stellar 587,000 total viewers) but Snoop is pretty clear about what makes "Dogg After Dark" must-see TV.

"It's not the whole sitting behind a desk interviewing a guest all night. It's flowing, it's floor-to-floor, it's action, it's movement, it's pretty girls. It's a great time. It's 'Dogg After Dark'."

Jennifer Aniston Dreams Of Leaving Hollywood

0

Jennifer AnistonJennifer Aniston has vowed to quit Hollywood to escape the glare of the media spotlight.

The former Friends star, who is dating musician John Mayer, is hounded by the paparazzi eager to get a photo of Aniston on a daily basis. But the actress is sick of the constant attention, and is planning to leave Los Angeles one day, to live "somewhere remote" where "nobody really cares." And Aniston is considering taking a sabbatical from acting as she ponders her future.

She tells Britain's Elle magazine, "I don't have a game plan. I don't think that in five years' time I need to be doing this or that. You set yourself up for disappointment that way. It seems unnecessary torture. I can see myself taking a few years off, living somewhere remote. I would miss acting."

"But... eventually, I'm not going to be living in L.A. full-time. Eventually I'm going to move somewhere nobody really cares. Just go off and be alone."

Mark Wahlberg takes 'Prisoners', a new thriller Hollywood movie

0

Mark WahlbergIt's a dark thriller from a writer who just signed with a major talent agency two weeks ago -- but has the attachment of Mark Wahlberg and the interest of nearly every major studio in town.

The previously unknown Aaron Guzikowski, a Brooklyn native who flew out to Los Angeles just a few weeks ago and signed with Endeavor, is behind "Prisoners," a project said to have echoes of "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven."

The story concerns a Boston family-man whose 6-year-old daughter and her best friend are kidnapped and then takes matters into his own hands by in turn kidnapping the man he suspects responsible.

Guzikowski was noticed two years ago by management company Madhouse Entertainment, which then worked to develop this script through dozens of iterations (the company also will produce).

But all that toil seems to paying a quick dividend.

The Endeavor-repped Wahlberg, a Boston native who also plays a distressed father in Peter Jackson's upcoming "Lovely Bones," attached himself to the script shortly after the Endeavor signing.

Endeavor declined comment on the project.

Studios, meanwhile, have been clamoring for rights the past few days, but Endeavor is keen on attaching a director before making a sale. A director is expected to be attached next week.

And a rags-to-riches tale may continue to be written for a long time after that.

Actress Genelia D Souza Gets Her Dream Man

0

Actress Genelia D SouzaActress Genelia D Souza has been a fan of actor John Abraham for a while now. And it is almost like a dream come true for her when she found herself sharing screen space with him in her next film, Hook Ya Crook.

This is a crush which probably dates back to Genelia's college days when John attended the college fete. The actress, who shot into prominence after the success of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, is also working with actors like fardeen Khan and Harman Baweja in films like It's My Life and Life Partner. The actress is currently being offered a lot of roles which have her cast in girl next door mould. But she has no problems with that right now. She is open to challenges and even open to doing an all out commercial film or even action movies. Despite not having become an overnight sensation like her co star Imran Khan, Genelia, like her name, is quite genial, and has no qualms about that. Right now, she is quite happy finding her feet in Bollywood once again.

Aishwarya and Vivek's Filmfare face-off

0

Aishwarya and VivekBeing in the same industry, this had to happen. And to tell you the truth, I was waiting for it since the day Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi broke up. I mean these reunions are fun, right. If not for the two involved, at least for the onlookers.

My little birdie, who keeps twittering about all these goings-on in tinsel town told me all about the Ash-Vivek face off during the recent Filmfare awards.

Well, it so happened that though they obviously tried to avoid each other, Ash and Vivek were caught face-to-face while Vivek was giving bites to the media and posing for the cameras. Ash and hubby Abhi arrived right then.

But Bachchan bahu, being the diplomatic little thing she is, pretended that she hasn't seen her ex lover at all. She in fact started chatting with her husband Abhishek. Theykept sitting inside their car till Vivek finished and then went inside.

Vivek Oberoi however noticed this entire thing and was rather pissed off. Though he went in just then, he left the venue soon after.

I know, I expected fireworks but then again, 'pretending not to see' and 'rushing out of the venue' is good enough dough for Juicy Mausi!

Soha Ali Khan: I want Emraan to kiss me!

0

Soha Ali KhanShe might have essayed serious characters in most of her films, but off screen Soha Ali Khan is a bundle of joy. Promptly responding to my SMS, Soha was in a joyful mood as she talked on the phone about her forthcoming comedy Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge. Insisting that unlike her image, she has terrific sense of humour this is what she had to say…

Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge has a lot of spoofs. Are you personally okay with the idea of take offs - some people like Ashutosh Gowariker are touchy about it.

Ya I guess I should be, considering I am doing it myself. But this film not just a spoof. There is a proper storyline. A bunch of people come together to make a film called Sholay Se Lagaan Tak with scenes reminiscent of our classics. It's not offensive in any way. I am sure if Ashu or Hema Ji see it they wouldn't mind. The film has been made with a lot of love for these films and the director has treated it with the spirit of a fan.

It's your first tryst with comedy. Do you have a funny bone in real life?

Oh I am good at comedy. All my friends think I have a great sense of humour. And even when I am interacting with someone the first thing I look for is humour. Now I don't want to speak for myself because if go about calling myself funny, people will think it's all blah!

But did this love for humour translate on screen as well?

See comedy is all about reacting. And when you have co-stars like Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever and Kunal it's impossible not to laugh. DRJ is one of the funniest scripts I have come across and Umesh, our director, is someone who really manages make me laugh a lot.

Well talking about Kunal, how did these link up stories spread?

You tell me. I think according to the media an actress is born only to date. Her life moves from one co-star to another – going by which there should be no time for acting. I just love our media. I think our journalists are pros at creative writing and are all wannabe filmmakers. First the media spins a story about a person and then approaches the same person for a clarification. Luckily thanks to my parents and brother I have seen this so often that I know you got to take what you read with a pinch of salt.

Man found guilty on the murder of Rob Knox, Harry Potter's actor

0

Rob KnoxA man was found guilty on Wednesday of stabbing to death a teenage actor who played a role in the forthcoming Harry Potter film during a frenzied revenge attack.

Rob Knox, 18, died after being stabbed five times outside a bar in Sidcup, southeast of London, in May 2007 as he tried to protect his younger brother Jamie, 17.

Karl Bishop, 22, was found guilty of his murder at the Old Bailey, the Press Association reported. Speaking outside court the actor's mother Sally Knox spoke of her loss and vowed to stamp out knife crime, a major social problem affecting young people in Britain.

"We will work towards making sure he did not die in vain by continuing our work against knife crime," she said.

"We are enormously relieved justice has been done, although there is nothing that will compensate for the shattering sense of loss," Rob's father Colin said.

Bishop of Sidcup, who will be sentenced at the Central Criminal Court on Thursday, faces a life in jail. He showed no reaction as the jury returned a guilty verdict. Earlier on Wednesday he had refused to leave the cells to hear proceedings.

The court heard Bishop had been involved in a row with Knox at the bar the previous week. The following week he returned but was refused entry and ended up in another confrontation with Knox and his friends.

He returned home and armed himself with two kitchen knives. On his way back he came across Jamie Knox, and his brother ran out of the bar when he heard that Bishop was back.

During the altercation Bishop threatened that he "would stab anyone who came near him," prosecutor Brian Altman said.

He stabbed Knox, who had a small part as Marcus Belby in the forthcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The knife penetrated a main artery and was to prove fatal.

"This man (Bishop) was the aggressor and he was acting out of revenge. He wasn't under attack -- because he had the whip hand," Altman said.

"This man carries knives like others carry pens in their pockets, quite happily thinks little or nothing of stabbing others as if it were some occupational hazard."

The court heard that Bishop showed "absolutely no signs of remorse." When told that Knox had died, he replied: "Yeah, sweet." After the verdict was delivered, Knox's parents burst into tears and were comforted by friends.

Bishop was also found guilty of wounding Knox's friend Dean Saunders, 23, but not guilty of wounding another Tom Hopkins, 19. The jury is still considering charges of wounding involving three others.
