Gul Panag is a former top model and actress who was born in Chandigarh on 3rd January 1979. Belonging to Punjabi family, her father was serving in Army. During her childhood and teenage she lived in many different parts of India and world due to her father�s occupation. Due to this she studied in 14 different schools. She did her Graduate degree inMathematics from Panjabi University in Patiala and later did her Post Graduate degree from Punjab UniversityChandigarh in Political Science. During her student life Gul was an active public speaker and took part in many debates. She also took part in sports during her college years. She was a national level debating champions and won two gold medals.

As a Model Gul Panag participated in the Miss Universe 1999 contest and she was in amongst the top 10 contestants. She won the 1999 version of the Miss India contest.

Gul Panag started her movie career with Dhoop that was released in the year 2003. It was a real tale of movie about an Indian captain. The low budget movie was not a box office success but it won rave reviews due to the excellent acting of its entire cast. Gul Panag�s acting was commendable and it is said that she carried her role with a lot of dignity. Her second movie released in the year 2005 which was titled Jurm which was a thriller directed by Vikram Bhatt alongside Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta.

Her next movie was the highly critically acclaimed movie Dor by Nagesh Kuknoor. The movie was a low budget movie but won everyone over and Gul playing the role of Zeenat who is trying to face her husband�s life. It was a breakthrough performance by Gul and it put her in the frame of best offbeat actors of bollywood. He won the Zee cine critics award for the best actress for Dor. Her next movie Manorma six Feet Under alongside Abhay Deol was no different. It was a thriller based on a small town detective who is trying to uncover a murder. This movie too was not a box office success but it was hailed by the critics who praised both Abhay & Gul of honest and natural portrayal of their characters. The movie once again proved that Gul Panag is someone who should not be over looked as a competent actress.

Gul over the years has acted in many movies including, Hello Darling, Straight, summer 2007, Fatso etc. her movie Hello released in 2008 was an adaptation of the Novel A Night at the call centre which also starred Sharman Joshi, Isha Kopikar, Sohail Khan & Salman Khan (In a guest appearance). In 2010 she did a movie called Rann opposite Amitabh Bachan, Ritesh Deshmukh & Paresh Rawal and it was directed by Ram Gopal Verma. The movie was based on how the Indian media works. Gul had brief role in the movie but she again did complete justice to her role.

Gul Panag is a techno and loves to write and review new gadgets and technologies. She is an very active member of the social networking site Twitter. She regularly takes part in blogs and discussions on the social networking site regarding social issue and Indo-Pak relations. In March 2011 Gul Panag married her boyfriend Rishi in a traditional Sikh Wedding ceremony.
