Raj Kundra gifts Shilpa Shetty a 7 crore flat on her birthday

Shilpa Shetty's beau Raj Kundra not only hosted a lavish surprise birthday party on June 8 party for her in London but also presented her a flat in Central London costing over Rs 7 crore! The 2BHK costs more than 1,000,000 pounds (Rs 78,079,902).

A source close to Shilpa says, "After the IPL ended, Raj took Shilpa on a two-week holiday to London just to unwind. She stayed on till her birthday. It was after the bash that Raj handed her the keys of a 2BHK duplex penthouse apartment in South Kensington, one of the most posh localities in Central London.

A source close to the actress says Shilpa was stunned by the gift even though her beau always lavishes her with thoughtful presents. Soon after Shilpa got the keys, she began shopping for home accessories and designing the apartment. She also supervised the designing and decoration of the seven-bedroom Weybridge mansion that Kundra bought three years ago in Surrey."

But though Shilpa loves her 1600-square feet Weybridge home (their main home), the Kensington apartment is very convenient. The mansion is 40 minutes away from London and overlooks the exclusive St George's Hill. Says the source, "Shilpa is thrilled because she keeps visiting London often and the Kensington apartment is very convenient for her. Shilpa is keeping the Kensing-ton place simple and basic.

Shilpa says, "I was in shock when Raj gave me such a beautiful birthday gift. The way he arranged my birthday party was overwhelming too. Raj went out of his way to make it so special for me. He took all the names of my friends in London from my phonebook and invited them for the party. For a man to put together such a party takes time and effort. His gesture was special and thoughtful."

SRK shows Ashutosh the door!

After burning his hands with Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades (2004) which flopped at the box-office, Shah Rukh has flatly refused to work with the director for his next venture. Ashutosh offered SRK a role in a period film with Rani Mukerji as his screen partner, but after Swades, Shah Rukh isn't taking any chances.
Apparently, working with Gowariker on Swades wasn't one of the highlights of Shah Rukh's life, but Ashutosh asked him to forget the past and start afresh. Ashutosh also offered him incentives to make up for the experience.

Our source said, "Ashutosh even told Shah Rukh that they could co-produce the film and he had no issues with Shah Rukh's style of working on commission basis. But even this did not evoke a favourable response."

Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji is finally over her Yash Raj hangover. Her previous three films under the YRF banner: Laaga Chunri Mein Daag, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic tanked at the box-office.

While Shah Rukh Khan remained unavailable for comment, Ashutosh Gowariker chose not to speak.

Shahrukh Khan apologizes to Aishwarya Rai

Karan Johar’s birthday party puts an end to Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s dushmani. They came, attended the party and became friends thereby putting an end to the year’s long rivalry. The two has been sharing a bitter relationship from the days of ‘Chalte Chalte’ after King Khan dropped Ash and signed Rani Mukherjee. Their relationship further damaged when SRK and his family were not invited to Ash-Abhi’s wedding.

Their relationship finally came to an end after SRK passed unceremonious comment against Aishwarya during Katrina’s birthday bash. After that very event, the Bachchan family had almost cut ties with Shahrukh. On Monday night, when Shahrukh with family and Ash with hubby Abhishek came across, SRK extended olive branch to Ash and apologized to her for the wrong.

A source gives an inside details of the happening, “A few minutes into the conversation with Ash, SRK apologized to her.” He said, ‘I think I owe you an apology because in some way I have wronged you.” Then what after the patch-up, the Bachchans and the Khans set the dance floor on fire, they danced, chatted and had fun the entire night.

Aamir Khan worries about her wife Kiran

Perfectionist Aamir Khan is going to be father again and he is extremely worried about his wife Kiran Rao who is not keeping in good health for few weeks. Kiran has been hospitalized twice, first due to fever and second time for lung infection. Aamir like an ideal husband makes sure that he remains by Kiran’s side as much as he can but hectic shooting schedule makes things impossible for him. Currently he is shooting in Ladakh for Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ where there is no mobile network. Climbing all the barriers, he travels miles to the nearest satellite booth to check out Kiran’s heath.

During breaks, Aamir covers extra miles to check out Kiran’s health. The nearest phone booth is at least an hour drive away from the location.

Aamir remained tightlipped on Kiran’s pregnancy issue as he is more concern about Kiran’s health than anything else.

Salman Khan sings a 'romantic song' for Katrina Kaif

Salman Khan looked immensely in love with Katrina Kaif on his show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ where he sang, danced and had fun with his love. Salman sang an old romantic song, ‘Jab Koi Baat Bigar Jaye’ and pulled Katrina towards him and both danced in upbeat mood. The couple looked in depth in love but Salman showed much interest than Kat. While singing the song, Salman did not take his eyes away from Katrina.

Salman even cracked jokes and asked his lady if anyone has ever proposed marriage to her, Kat promptly replied no and to that Salman remarked that only a fool would not propose to her. Katrina was present with her ‘New York’ co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh and they were on the show to promote their upcoming film, ‘New York’ which is slated for release on June 26.

Shah Rukh Khan names his sci-fi thriller

It was widely reported by the media that Shah Rukh Khan will don the greasepaint for a super hero role in his next film. Incidentally, this film is to be directed by the King Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment.

The creative actor has named this science fiction film as RA-1. Sources close to the actor-producer say that it means - The Egyptian Sun God. RA-1 will be directed by Anubhav Sinha. Shah Rukh has also roped in cameraman Manikandan to handle the camera. The man behind the camera, Manikandan said that he will do a thorough research before starting this venture as he wants to bring out the best for this sci-fi thriller.

Aishawarya Rai Bachchan, a wicked person?

Aishawarya Rai Bachchan has been accused of stalling Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor from walking the red carpet in Cannes. However, Ash denied this and said that anyone is free to visit the Cannes Film Festival.

The beauty products major, L’Oreal had asked Sonam not to proceed to Cannes and they would find her suitable opportunities in the future. It is worth mentioning here that Sonam’s name was on the list that was announced by the L’Oreal on the May 10th press meet.

According to a spokesperson of the company: “There were adverse reports in certain sections of media after some comments by Sonam Kapoor, which were presented out of context… Following this, in order to avoid further escalation, we have advised Sonam not to go to Cannes as was planned earlier, bearing in mind that there would be more interesting opportunities for future appearances in Europe for her.”

Bollywood's Three Khans Together?

Director Sanjay Chhel could pull off a coup of sorts if all the three Khans of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan agree to star in his forthcoming film. The three will be approached for a cameo in the film.

Whatever it may be, getting all the three Khans in a single movie is something that no one has been able to achieve so far. The director is also looking to sign up other top heroes of Bollywood to play cameo roles in this flick.

Meanwhile, the production house that is producing this venture, Percept, has decided to reduce the film’s budget by 30 per cent due to recession.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt quit a reality show this week, and we’re not talking about The Hills.

The newly wed couple was on the cast of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! and (shame on them) they didn’t even last a week:

“They wanted to be treated like stars. Spencer literally thought he and Heidi were staying in a Four Seasons, working out and getting a tan.

The two refused to eat the same food as the rest of the cast, and complained about being teamed with low-wattage stars, among them former model/reality-show queen Janice Dickinson, actors Stephen Baldwin and Lou Diamond Phillips, former NBA star John Salley and American Idol castoff Sanjaya Malakar. An NBC exec had to coax the newlyweds to remain on board.

Heidi even said: “I wish they got some real celebrities like K-Fed.”

Madonna's New Daughter Flown to London Overnight

Mercy Chifundo James, the 3-year-old toddler adopted by Madonna, was secretly flown from her home country of Malawi to London early Saturday morning.

"A private jet flew in from South Africa and collected her at five minutes to six last evening," an airport source tells. "She connected to London from Johannesburg at 10:30 p.m."

Mercy, who will be joining big sister, Lourdes, brothers Rocco and David Banda, – also a 3-year-old from Malawi – was accompany by a nanny, a child nurse and another aide. Madonna has homes in England and in the United States.

Malawi's highest court granted the adoption June 12, overturning an April court ruling that the pop star had not spent enough time in Malawi to be given another child.

Madonna, who was seen leaving London by private jet Friday afternoon after earlier flying in from New York's JFK airport, was still expected in Malawi, but no one could confirm when she would arrive.

"There are still preparation for her coming," said a source at Raising Malawi, the charity the singer set up in the African nation. "We still have a two-week booking at Kumbali Lodge."

The Lodge is an exclusive ranch Madonna has been staying during all three of her visits to Malawi. Owner Guy Pickering confirmed his place has been booked for two weeks but could not divulge more.

"We don't discuss our clients; that's private information," he said.

Movie Budget And Profit: Industry experts were expecting a $45 million opening weekend for the fourth installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, but the film would seem to be on its way to crash through that expectation, picking up an estimated $30 million on Friday alone. That still leaves Saturday and Sunday’s take, which as of this writing, have still not come in.

The $30 million dollar take for “Fast & Furious” came from 5,200 screens, and easily beat out the previous three installments. It bested “Tokyo Drift’s” entire debut weekend take, and easily trumped the original’s $15 million back in 2001. For the record, “2 Fast 2 Furious” took in just south of $20 million when it opened on Friday in 2003.

To put all this in perspective, after picking up $15 million on its Friday opening, the 2001 original went on to earn $40 million for the weekend, while “2 Fast 2 Furious” went on to claim $50 million. It’s looking very good that “Fast & Furious” will break both of those records when Saturday and Sunday’s take are counted. If I had to guess, I would say another $30 million is not out of the question, and indeed, may be on the low side.

Movie Review: Paul Walker and Vin Diesel reunites on the franchise that made them stars in the first place with “Fast & Furious”, the fourth chapter in the popular car series directed by Justin Lin, who previously helmed the third installment, “Tokyo Drift”. Setting itself as a prequel of sorts to “Tokyo Drift”, it’s best to approach “Fast & Furious” as if parts two and three never happened. Sure, there is a nice little tie-in with “Tokyo Drift” via the character Han (Sung Kang), but for the most part “Fast & Furious” is more like a direct sequel to 2001’s “The Fast and the Furious” without all the filler that is the second and third part.

The film opens in South America, where fugitive Dominic Toretto (Diesel), having fled the States after the events of the first movie, find his life of crime with girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) dangerous for those around him. So Dominic flees yet again, leaving Letty to return home. Alas, home proves just as dangerous, as it’s not long before Dominic receives a phone call from his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) that Letty has been murdered by the henchman of the mysterious drug lord Braga. It’s the same Braga that now-FBI agent Brian O’Conner (Walker) has been pursuing for the last two years without any success. Brian catches a break when he discovers a way into Braga’s inner circle through a street race that the drug lord runs regularly in order to recruit drivers to transport his drugs into the States.

This sets the stage for an uneasy reunion as Dominic returns to the States to exact revenge for Letty’s murder, while Brian finds that his job with the FBI is on shaky grounds. As Mia asks him at one point, is he really a good guy pretending to be a bad guy, or the other way around? Brian answers that he doesn’t know himself. It’s a good thing, then, that Dominic is there to help out, as the two ends up working together to bring down Braga with or without the FBI’s help. As it so happens in these movies, the bad guys are usually better at being good guys than the ones with the badge.

“Fast & Furious” is what you would expect from the car franchise – lots of racing and custom cars to get all you gearheads out there excited. Letty’s murder and Dominic and Brian’s quest for justice keeps the film’s plot moving, but there’s no doubt Justin Lin knows where his bread is buttered – it’s all about the machines that go vroom vroom, baby. And if they’re not racing, there are lots of long, elaborately choreographed sequences where pretty looking cars go really, really fast while being driven by guys who know what they’re doing. There is requisite romance between Brian and Mia, and Dominic gets a little taste with the bad guy’s, well, bad girl (Gal Gadot), but don’t fool yourself, this is a boy’s movie through and through.

What’s there to say except if you liked the franchise, you’ll definitely find a lot to like about “Fast & Furious”. From a character standpoint, it’s probably the most nuanced of all the previous installments (though admittedly that doesn’t say much, the series has always been weak on characters), and writer Chris Morgan certainly gives his leading men plenty to do. Dominic growls and stalks his way through the movie like an avenging angel, ready to beat any bad guy into submission. He even shakes off a gunshot the way we would react upon being bitten by an ant. Except, well, he doesn’t even scratch. The script also has plenty of moments for Walker’s Brian O’Conner, who really comes to realize that he’s more bad guy than good guy, and that maybe, just maybe, he should just stop pretending and get on with being who he really is. Surprisingly, the film does a really good job of stripping the character down to his street essence.

It goes without saying that the Oscars won’t be showering “Fast & Furious” with awards (unless it’s for those barely-recognized technical ones) come awards season, but I’m sure the filmmakers could care less. The series has always been about giving the fans what they want, and Justin Lin and company certainly have done that with this latest installment. The final few minutes of “Fast & Furious” indicate that a fifth movie is on the horizon, and considering the film’s spectacular opening weekend box office, that’s looking more like a sure thing than fast cars and hot women in a “Fast and Furious” movie. And considering that there’s not another viable car franchise out there, the audience will certainly still be there a year or two from now.

'Love split': Katie Price had Fun in Ibiza

When former English model Katie Price a.k.a. Jordan revealed that she was determined to have some fun in Ibiza, she wasn't kidding.

Jordan, 31, who has been going through a harrowing time after her split from hubby Peter Andre, pushed all thoughts about her crumbling marriage out of her mind as she flew off to the Spanish party island.

"Yee haa, I'm going to have some fun at last," the Mirror quoted her as saying to her friends.

"It's been a f***ing nightmare but I'm going to have a wicked time. I haven't had a full week's holiday for 10 years. I am well up for it," she said.

As soon as she arrived at her fancy hotel at 10am she and eight pals headed for the pool and ordered jug after jug of sangria.

"Katie feels absolutely drained. She's had an emotionally knackering five weeks and wants to let her hair down," a friend of hers said.

"Kate believes she works bloody hard for her money and deserves this trip.

"She's not got the kids with her so she's not tied down. If she wants to go out every night and get hammered, then why shouldn't she? After all, she's a single lady now.

"Kate wants to treat all her mates and paint the town pink," the friend revealed.

There was a lot of bubbly ordered on board the flight as soon as it took off, with her friends going through four 15 pounds bottles of Nicolas Feuillatte champagne.

Jordan was even seen taking out her camera phone and guffawing loudly at pictures of a naked man.

"I hope I don't get into too much trouble," she said as she zoomed in on his privates.

‘Luck By Chance’ is a slice of life film that attempts to give an insider’s view of the film industry and its trappings and its manipulations.

Farhan Akhtar returns to acting with his sister Zoya Akhtar ’s directorial debut that has been in the making for a long time. ‘Luck By Chance’ stars Farhan as a struggling actor and Konkona Sen Sharma as a starlet.

Here’s a one-of-its-kind film that takes you into the underbelly of Bollywood – into the world of dreamy-eyed strugglers, pampered starlets, superstitious producers, Hollywood aping directors, and the sensation seeking media.

Without giving in to cynicism, first-time director Zoya Akhtar tells a delightful tale that exposes the workings of an industry where stars are deified and strugglers scorned. Farhan Akhtar plays Vikram, a struggling actor who leaves his dad’s flourishing business in Delhi to try his luck in films. Similarly, Sona ( Konkona Sen Sharma ) is a girl from Kanpur who has been doing odd roles in films with the hope that a big break – promised by an exploitative producer – awaits her.

Through their struggling days, the two meet and fall in love. Unlike Sona, Vikram doesn’t wait for opportunity to present itself. He creates opportunities, manipulates his way through the seemingly impenetrable barriers that can dog any struggler. And then the lady luck smiles. Vikram gets his big break, while Sona faces failure.

Having gotten his foot in the door to stardom, Vikram sets his conscience aside and selfishly pursues his aim, even though it leaves behind broken hearts and tussled egos.

It would have taken an insider to give an objective view of the film industry and Zoya manages that with remarkable aplomb. The characters in ‘Luck By Chance’ seem plucked straight out of B-Town.

There’s a roly-poly producer ( Rishi Kapoor ) who concocts lies with a naturally gifted flair and loses his blood pressure to see a star walk out of his film. There’s a starlet ( Isha Sharvani ) who can’t speak Hindi properly but gets a lead role just because her mom used to be a successful heroine. There’s the omnipresent mom ( Dimple Kapadia ) who keeps demanding the best for the baby and giving headache to the producer. There’s a director ( Sanjay Kapoor ) who dons his thinking hat but prefers to rip off Hollywood blockbusters. There’s a writer ( Anurag Kashyap ) who has to change the entire script just because the hero wants a positive role. And there’s a star Zaffar Khan ( Hrithik Roshan ) who dumps his producer after getting a meatier offer from another filmmaker ( Karan Johar ).

Not just this, the movie introduces you to the unsung heroes. The old men with wrinkled faces and gnarled hands that sew fetching costumes for glamourous stars. The agents who fish out roles – however minuscule – for strugglers. And lastly, the strugglers themselves, who wait endlessly in queues, at auditions and outside producer’s doors, only to be shunned.

With slice-of-life peeks into these lives, the movie tells a heart-winning but a tad too long tale of love, luck, loss, destiny, dreams and will power.

After Rock On , Farhan Akhtar gives yet another riveting performance that thoroughly deserves plaudits. The incredibly talented Konkona is superb as ever. Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla delight you despite being over the top at places. Dimple Kapadia still oozes a hypnotic charm. Isha Sharvani is suitably cast as a bimbo.

The songs are catchy and cinematography is top-notch. Zoya shows remarkable subtlety in handling some sequences. But she gets overindulgent in her story at times. The result is a three-hour long marathon punctuated by cameos from stars like Shahrukh Khan , Aamir Khan , Abhishek Bachchan , Akshaye Khanna , Dia Mirza , Vivek Oberoi and Javed Akhtar .

In a nutshell, ‘Luck By Chance’ is a nice, touching story studded with a galaxy of stars! What more else could you have asked for?

Nelly Furtado, Timbaland facing copyright infringement lawsuit

Canadian/Portuguese singer Nelly Furtado and producer Timbaland are facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from record label executives in Finland.

The two have been accused of borrowing segments of someone else's song to create the track 'Do It', which had appeared on the singer's 2006 album Loose, and was a hit song in 2007.

Timbaland denied he had "stolen" extracts from 2000 computer demo Acidjazzed Evening by Finnish artist Janne Suni, or the remixed 2002 version by Norwegian musician Glenn Rune Gallefoss.

Gallefoss subsequently filed legal action against Furtado's Universal Finland record company bosses, but Helsinki District Court dismissed the case, and an appeals court is currently dealing it with.

And the case against Furtado and Timbaland refuses to go away - officials at Finland's Kernel Records, the company which owns the original sound recordings of Acidjazzed Evening, have now filed suit in Florida.

Papers filed at the Miami-Dade District Court on June 11 suggest Timbaland used a computer programme to "knowingly and wilfully steal" Gallefoss' tune as he created the beat for Do It, according to Allhiphop.com.

And the record company bosses are planning to use Timbaland's own words against him by quoting him in their lawsuit.

They claim the producer gave two radio interviews after the first accusations of plagiarism arose, and spoke about the allegations. He also attempted to explain his take on sampling a song and stealing it.

"Sample and stole is two different things. Stole is like I walked in your house, watched you make it... went to my house and told Nelly, 'Hey, I got a great song for you'," Contactmusic quoted him as reportedly telling one interviewer.

"Sample is like you heard it somewhere, and you just sampled. Maybe you didn't know who it was by because it don't have the credits listed (sic)," he had added.

The Fins are claiming copyright infringement and request an injunction prohibiting the further release, reprinting, performance and sale of the song Do It.

Lenny Kravitz desperate for sex

Lenny Kravitz has admitted that he's finding it hard to stick to his vow of celibacy.

The rocker, who has previously been involved with Kylie Minogue, Madonna, and Nicole Kidman, has not dated anyone in four years.

He has pledged that he won't have sex again until he finds the perfect woman to marry after getting tired of casual relationships.

However, Kravitz is praying he finds the right woman soon - because he's desperate to get intimate.

"It's very hard. For some periods of time it's easy, and then it's really hard. It goes back and forth. It's not hard just walking through life, and you see women, and I admire them - I love being around women. But if you're seeing someone, you've got to explain, 'Well this is what I'm doing in life - so that's not going to be a part of it'," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

Sir Michael Gambon makes Daniel Radcliffe laugh between takes

Actor Daniel Radcliffe found it hard to keep a straight face during the takes of the new Harry Potter franchise because Sir Michael Gambon was determined to make him laugh.

The 19-year-old star, who reprises his role in as the boy wizard in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, couldn't stop laughing in the company of 68-year-old Gambon, who plays his mentor Albus Dumbledore.

"All the scenes with Dumbledore were quite difficult, but they were great fun," Contactmusic quoted Radcliffe as saying.

"(Gambon) is wonderful and I love him and he's one of the greatest actors I've ever worked with, but it is amazing because he will be actively trying to make you laugh right up until the point the director says, 'Action'," he added.

Miranda Kerr eyes music career

Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr is looking to drop her modelling career to step into the music industry.

The Aussie stunner, who recently shot the new David Jones spring/summer campaign in Broome, revealed she would love to delve completely into music.

"Well, I actually love to sing," Couriermail quoted her as telling Rolling Stone.

"A couple of weeks ago I was hanging out with a friend of mine who has a band. "He was like, 'Oh come and sing with us, it will be fun'.

"So I went along and I loved it - really, really loved it. It's such a great form of expression. I've had a couple more rehearsals with them," she added.

Kerr further revealed she was looking for the right time to pursue her music passion, saying: "It is just a matter of time because I am so crazy busy running around the world."

Take That's Gary Barlow has 'ballet shoes-phobia'!

Take That star Gary Barlow has a thing about... ballet pumps.

The 37-year-old has developed an unhealthy aversion to the flat footwear. In fact, he hates them so much that he banned people from wearing them backstage during the band's Circus tour, reports The Mirror.

A source said: "Gary can't stand the sight of ballet pumps. It may sound odd but he cannot bear them.

"He thinks they're incredibly unflattering. In his eyes, even the most attractive woman in the world would be pug ugly if she was wearing pumps.

"At one of their recent after-show parties, a dancer was kicking back in some pastel ballet pumps, and Gary had to leave the room.

"His wife Dawn owns a pair and Gary jokes that he'll divorce her if she buys any more. And he can't be seen with her when she does wear them.

"All 230-odd cast and crew have been told to stick to trainers or heels when not on stage.

"The other lads find it hilarious and keep taking the mick, but Gary is adamant: dump the pump."

Shia LaBeouf confirms Indiana Jones 5

Shia LaBeouf has confirmed that Indiana Jones is coming back for a fifth time.

The young Hollywood actor, who joined Harrison Ford in the movie franchise's fourth installment, said that movie bosses are planning to make a new film in the archaeologist adventurer series, reports The Daily Express.

LaBeouf, who played the history hero's son and sidekick Mutt, confirmed director Steven Spielberg planned to continue the franchise without Ford.

He says, "Steve just said that he cracked the story on it, and I think they're gearing that up."

Ford and LaBeouf have both dismissed rumours that the younger star will be leading the Indiana Jones franchise in the future.

Miss Universe Australia denies crown stripping rumours

Miss Universe Australia Rachael Finch has denied rumours that her leaked spat with pageant's national director could create grounds for her sacking.

The 20-year-old was previously reported to be at the risk of losing her title after details of her letter of complaint to the New York head office of the Miss Universe Organisation was made public.

Finch reportedly claimed she had been pressured by pageant's national director Deborah Miller into signing an exclusive three-year management contract.

But according to the Daily Telegraph, the Sydney-based model slammed the reports claiming pageant runner-up Jade Russell would be taking over the crown, reports News.com.au.

Finch said: "I have not been replaced and Deb and I are pulling together in a positive direction."

She added: "For someone to lose their title you have to do something wrong and in my case I haven't."

Miller also confirmed that Finch remained the titleholder and would represent Australia at Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas in August, the Courier-Mail reports.

She said: "Rachael has the full support of Miss Universe Australia, and we will work with her to promote Australia positively on the international platform."
