Born in the Italian town of Citta di Castello, Monica Bellucci idolized screen icons such as Sophia Loren and Gina Lolabrigida while she was growing up. However, Bellucci began to land so many modeling jobs that she had to drop out of college,especially when she was chosen by director Dino Risi to appear in his TV movie Vita Coi Figli (1990) after seeing her photo in a magazine. She appeared in two more Italian productions before coming to the attention of American director Francis Ford Coppola, who cast her in Bram Stoker?s Dracula (1992). POPSTAR ROBBIE WILLIAMS TO GIVE SECRET MUSIC CONCERT IN BERLIN

Robbie Williams will continue his much-anticipated comeback with a secret concert in Berlin.

It will be a unique opportunity for fans to see their idol perform in the flesh, as he has developed too much stage fright.

The 35-year-old said: "I can’t imagine going on tour in the near future."
But he will make an exception on October 23 with the gig in the German capital at the Max Schmeling Halle.

News of the event may have leaked out, but the popstar's management today confirmed that entrance to the show will still be free.
Robbie will sing tracks from his new album 'Reality Killed The Video Star', which will be released on November 6.

He is expected to arrive in Berlin on Thursday in his private jet. Whether he will be staying in the Ritz Carlton at Potsdamer Platz as he did for his 2006 concert is not yet known.
During the singer’s last visit the hotel was practically declared a state of emergency for his six-day stay.

This time around Robbie will arrive not only with a new single, ‘Bodies’, but also with his new love, Turkish-American model and actress Ayda Field (30).
She was on stage on Tuesday for Robbie’s official comeback performance at the Roadhouse in London, which was the singers first concert appearance in three years.

Robbie Williams will also return to Berlin’s O2 World for the MTV Europe Music Awards on 5 November.

MISCHA BARTON DECIDES TO QUIT TELEVISION?

Troubled actress Mischa Barton has decided to quit TV after the cancellation of her latest small-screen series "The Beautiful Life" because she wants to focus on "more serious roles".

The 23-year-old rose to fame starring in teen show "The O.C." and signed on to Ashton Kutcher's modelling drama "The Beautiful Life" earlier this year which was scrapped due to poor ratings after just two episodes.

Barton is now reconsidering her acting future and realises the small screen might not be for her, reports people.com.

"I think I need to back away from the whole TV approach. That whole world of network television, probably isn't, for me, a good idea now. I need to start reading for more serious roles," she said.

Barton insists she will take her time to decide her next project.

"It's too early to tell yet. I'm passing on all the (early) offers, because that's not the stuff you want to do. I want to go fight for interesting things and look for something that's going to be interesting for me... as a role," she said.

"(I'm) reading scripts and enjoying living in New York. Now that I'm not doing the TV show, I've got lots of time to work out," she added.

Priyanka Chopra honoured at the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival with 'Jin Jue Award'

This weekend, Priyanka Chopra was invited by the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) for their closing ceremony on June 21, 2009 where she was presented with the Festival's top award - The Jin Jue Award. This award marks the tenth award for her in the past six months.

The festival's highest honour and main prize is the "Jin Jue" award. It is a symbol of the traditional orient culture, is an ancient Chinese wine container which has a uniquely beautiful shape and a gracefully antique style. Priyanka Chopra was the first Indian actor to be presented with this honour on an international platform for her contribution to cinema.

Says Priyanka Chopra, “I feel very privileged to receive this honor from the Shanghai International Film Festival. As an actor, it is very encouraging to be recognized for your work. For me, an award such as this on such a big international platform gives me an opportunity to present India and our cinema to the world.”

Priyanka was very excited about receiving the award which is the highest honor of the SIFF and was equally excited about her visit to China. She is however hugely disappointed that she was not be able to be there due to a very sudden relapse of a serious stomach infection and was advised by doctors against travelling.

The SIFF is held each year for last 10 years and attracts every year a range of well known international actors and actresses and is the Asian Film Industries mega event of the year. Bollywood still takes inspirations from Hollywood?

Hollywood films have been the inspiration for many of the Hindi film industry's biggest hits.

Right from cult classics like 'Baazi' (1951) to 'Sholay' (1975) and 'Baazigar' (1993) - and even 'Ghajini' (2008) - all have some western movie as the stimulus. The Hollywood influence is evident in some of the forthcoming biggies like 'Paa', 'Action Replay', 'Agyaat' and 'Pyaar Impossible'.

Guru Dutt's debut 'Baazi' was inspired by the Rita Hayworth starrer 'Gilda' (1946), while 'Sholay' is widely called an 'Indian curry Western film', with inspiration from seven Hollywood films including - 'Once Upon A Time In The West' (1968), 'Spaghetti Westerns', 'The Wild Bunch' (1969), 'Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid' (1973) and 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' (1969).

'Baazigar' and 'Ghajini' are said to be Indianised versions of 'A Kiss Before Dying' (1991) 'Memento' (2000) respectively.

'Paa' supposedly draws its plot from the 1996 comedy-drama 'Jack', about a boy who ages faster than normal due to a disease, while Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Action Replay' is an alleged take-off on the reverse-ageing drama 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'.

Promos of Ram Gopal Varma's horror thriller 'Agyaat' suggest sequences from sci-fi horror 'Predator' (1987). 'Pyaar Impossible' is apparently sketched around reality TV series 'Beauty and the Geek' and 1999s 'Notting Hill' - on a relationship between a film actress and her fan.

David Dhawan, Karan Johar and Abbas-Mustan are working on remakes of 'The Wedding Crashers' (2005), 'Stepmom' (1998) and 'The Italian Job' (1969 and 2003).

Film critic Omar Qureshi says it is due to the lack of writers that filmmakers are visiting Hollywood movies for inspiration.

'The biggest motivation for making a successful movie is that it brings money and appreciation. So filmmakers go for a tried and tested formula by taking inspiration from Hollywood. Otherwise there are only a very few talented writers who've come out with original content... it's actually not about writers,' film critic Omar Qureshi told IANS.

Hollywood has been an influence even in the 1940s.

Mehboob Khan's 1940 movie 'Aurat' that he remade 17 years later into 'Mother India' was inspired from Hollywood flick 'The Good Earth' (1937).

'There has been a constant borrowing of ideas between the two industries. Take for example 'The Magnificent Seven' (1960) that was inspired from Akira Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai' (1954) that went on to inspire 'Sholay'. Even 'The Parent Trap' (1998) has a plot similar to that of 'Do Kaliyan' (1968),' Qureshi said.

US-based Indian origin Hollywood filmmaker Nagendra Karri said: 'It's the lack of scripts and proper writers that is making Indian filmmakers copy Hollywood. In fact that is one of the reasons Kamal Haasan used to get his scripts written by French writers and then adapt them to make classics,' Karri told IANS during a recent trip to India.

'Even if you are adapting or copying, at least give credits to the original, so that they don't feel cheated or offended.'

Film historian S.M.M. Ausaja says that though there is no dearth of good content here, filmmakers don't prefer to invest time in searching for good stories for their movies.

'There is no dearth of content here. It's only a question of shortcut that the filmmakers take because they want a ready script. We've always been inspired from the west... Lifting has been here since the 1940s.

'There are only a few Indian directors who've made authentic films like Ashutosh Gowariker who meticulously gives time to his scripts,' he added.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's hits like 'Baazigar', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Josh', 'Mohabattein', 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Chak De India' have based their stories respectively around films like 'A Kiss Before Dying', 'Sleepless in Seattle' (1993), 'West Side Story', 'Dead Poet's Society' (1989), 'Never Been Kissed' (1999) and 'Mighty Ducks'.

Ram Gopal Varma, known for making films on the underworld, also took inspiration from 'The Godfather' (1972) to make 'Sarkar'.

Qureshi says things have changed now as Hollywood filmmakers are keeping a close tab to ensure that Indian filmmakers don't lift ideas without taking permission.

'Earlier filmmakers were doing it blindly, but now with Hollywood keeping an eye on us they are doing it with their consent.'
Recently, film banners like B.R. Films, Mirchi Movies and David Dhawan have faced the flak for lifting movies like 'My Cousin Vinny' (1992), 'Harry Potter' title and 'Hitch' (2005) respectively for desi versions of forthcoming 'Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai' and 2008 dud 'Hari Puttar' and 'Partner' (2007).

Megan Fox has said she is least bothered about what's happening around the globe because she thinks 'TV news is mindless bulls**t.'

The Transformers actress revealed that she was equally fed up with costume dramas and comedy movies.

''Sex And The City: The Movie' was so tragic. Costume dramas bore me and Hollywood comedies are total garbage, not funny at all,' Contactmusic quoted her as telling Britain's GQ magazine.

'Fame doesn't mean anything because anyone can be famous, and TV news is mindless bulls**t,' she added.

The 23-year-old further slammed politicians, saying: 'America's war on drugs is propaganda. I can't tell you how much bulls**t I've been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed. People look at it like it's this crazy, hippy, f***ed-up thing to do. And it's not!

'I hope they legalise it and when they do I'll be the first f***ing person in line to buy my pack of joints.'

Hollywood actress Kim Kardashian’s footballer beau Reggie Bush may go on his knees any time soon, with the reality TV star saying that Bush is the one for her.

Kardashian, who has earlier been married to Damon Thomas, is pretty happy with boyfriend Reggie Bush, and has expressed her keenness on a long-term relationship with Bush.

“I think I finally made the right choice, he iss just a really sweet, normal guy,” Fox News quoted Kardashian, as telling People magazine.

The couple may discuss marriage in the off-season of the show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’, according to reports.

The actress plans to fly to New Orleans to spend some time with Bush.

“As soon as we”re done filming I”m probably going to spend most of my time in New Orleans for a little bit,” Kardashian said.

TV star Jade Goody is dead

London: British reality TV star Jade Goody succumbed to cancer, her spokesman Max Clifford confirmed on Sunday.

Goody died at home in Upshire, Essex, in the early hours of Sunday (UK Time) after a very public battle with cancer.

Goody's cancer diagnosis had come while she was shooting for reality TV show Bigg Boss 2 in India. She had to quit the show just weeks after joining it in order to go back home and start therapy.

In February, she was told it was terminal. The actor was being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London but wanted to die at home with her family.

Doctors had said that the disease spread to her liver, groin and bowel.

Goody has recently married her boyfriend Jack Tweed. Her mother and husband were reported to have been keeping round-the-clock vigil by her bedside.

Jade Goody begged doctors to kill her after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, it has emerged. She had asked the doctors for a fatal injection or pill that would end her suffering, reports the website of the British tabloid The Sun.

Jade has secured the future of her sons Bobby, five, and Freddy, four as well as donated generously to various charities, according to reports. Reportedly, there is also a will in place by the actor about how her funeral should be conducted.

Actress Shilpa Shetty had rushed to London to meet her former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jade Goody on hearing that the British reality TV star was close to death but was not allowed to meet her due to her failing condition.

On Monday Jade Goody had bid goodbye to her sons because she did not want them witness her death.

The 27-year-old dental nurse who shot into fame as Big Brother contestant in 2002 had lived her last seven years under media spotlight.
