Ben Affleck wins Critics Movie Choice Ben Affleck was named Best Director at last night's (10.01.13) Critics' Choice Movie Awards : just hours after being snubbed in the same category at the Oscar nominations. The actor-and-director was a surprise omission from the Academy Awards' shortlist for the same honour but he didn't let it get him down and was thrilled to take home the prize for his film 'Argo'. After accepted the award, Ben joked: 'I would like to thank the Academy. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. This is the one that counts. No, I do want to thank the Broadcast Film Critics Association. 'It is very, very cool for me. There was a time when the Ben Affleck's Critics' Award was a 'Saturday Night Live' sketch.' And it turned out to be a very good night for Ben because 'Argo' also took home Best Picture. As expected, Anne Hathaway was named Best Supporting Actress for her role as tragic Fantine in Les 'Miserables', a feat she is expected to repeat at next month's Academy Awards. During the ceremony : which took place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California : Jennifer Lawrence was named Best Actress in both the Action and Comedy categories for 'The Hunger Games' and 'Silver Linings Playbook' respectively. Her 'Silver Linings Playbook' co-star Bradley Cooper won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy, while the film was honoured with Best Comedy and Best Acting Ensemble. Jessica Chastain took home the prize for Best Actress for her role in 'Zero Dark Thirty' while 'Lincoln' star Daniel Day-Lewis was named Best Actor. She told the February issue of Good Housekeeping: �I will literally fight like a lion to keep my family happy and intact. �Maybe I wouldn't feel that way if I had had a great family growing up.' Drew loves motherhood because she feels it has made her a better person. She explained: �The best thing about being a mom is just what a better person it makes you on a daily basis. �Every morning when I wake her up, the endgame is, �Can I get her to smile?' And that puts me in a good mood. It's definitely a different way to live � and a much better one.' Sarika Feels There is no need to judge item girls Yesteryears actress Sarika, who is seen performing a qawwaali Dama dam mast kalandar in upcoming film David, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh in lead role, defends the need for contemporary Bollywood films to have item numbers. Revealing her opinion about having an item girl in a film, she says, "Who am I to have a say? No, seriously, let me tell you why exactly they are in our films: Because they work! This is an industry and we can't afford to be prudes. There is a wide spectrum of audiences out there and different types of cinema cater to different sorts of people." And that's the reason she feels the question of judgment doesn't arise. "We shouldn't put a certain section of actors in a bracket and judge them as a good or bad influence. They are there because they are entertaining. Nobody is doing anybody a favour. It's a basic matter of choice and taste," tells Sarika. Quizzed why exactly did she agree to an item song, Sarika avers, "I've always loved Dama dam mast kalandar and it goes back a long way. Since I got an opportunity to be associated with this number after so many years, I thought why not? Besides, there can't be a bigger reason for me to choose something than out of sheer love." Aashiqui 2 director Mohit Suri promises to retain original flavor Music is like soul of Indian films and keeping the fact in mind the makers of Aashiqui 2which stars Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, have been putting each possible effort to live up to the expectations. As known the film is a remake of 1990s musical hit Aashiqui, starring Rahul Roy andAnu Agarwal in the lead roles. It had 11 songs, which has already raised the comparison factor between both film's music. The director of remake, Mohit Suri says Aashiqui 2 has 10 long songs that have given the compositions a contemporary feel while retaining the flavor of the original movie's music. He says, "The film (Aashiqui 2) has 10 love songs and we have tried to retain the feel of the previous film as well. But of course that film came out 21 years ago, so it can't be exactly the same." Aashiqui music was directed by Nadeem Shravan, who gave us 11 hit songs, including Tu meri zindagi hai, Ab tere bin and Nazar ke samne, and all were very popular with the masses. "The songs have a flavor of the previous film, but then we have tried to contemporize it so that people can relate to it. Songs have been composed by different artists� we are on the last schedule of the shooting," he added. Aashqui 2 is almost done with its shoot and left with last leg of shooting parts but its release date has not been confirmed yet. When source asked, Mohit Suri said, "(Producer) Mukesh Bhatt will be able to give you a better answer on the release date. I only make the film." The music of the film is been given by Jeet Ganguly and is expected to release in May, 2013.

One such actor is Hrithik Roshan, who recently helped a paraplegic girl rent a house in Oshiwara, so she didn't have to travel far to visit her doctor for her treatment. Little birdie chirps that Hrithik has taken a responsibility to look after the needs of about 20 children suffering from paraplegia, and he was saddened to learn that she had met with an accident while travelling fromMira Road, where she stayed. "She had suffered a spinal injury. When Hrithik learnt about it from the doctor, he felt it was better if she didn't have to travel. Hence he helped her rent a flat located close to the hospital," said our source. One can recall that Hrithik started supporting the cause of such children after he played a paraplegic in Guzaarish a couple of years ago. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Guzaarish had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as female lead. Really appreciative act, Hrithik! 
A Three movies production deal between YRF and Dibakar Banerjee The leading production house of bollywood, Yash Raj Productions has formed a new pact with the director Dibakar Banerjee and his production house for the next three movies. This is a new type of production deal and two of the movies will also be directed by Dibakar. Dibakar said, "This is new, promising and exciting. Adi and I have different and individualistic creative visions while sharing a tremendous synergy in our ambition to take Indian cinema to new milestones at home and abroad. We decided to embark on this venture almost immediately after our very first meeting. I respect quality, consistency and true professionalism. YRF stands for that. Given my style of filmmaking and YRF's tremendous presence, reach and experience, this association will merge our respective expertise to create really trendsetting yet entertaining content for a really wide audience. I see tremendous potential in Adi's concerted plans for getting into co-production agreements with diverse, like-minded filmmakers" The details of the movies have not yet come out and they are still deciding on the specifics of them. The third movie will be directed by Dibakar's friend and writer of the movie Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Kanu Behl. Let's see if this pact is of any fame as we would slate it! 
Amrita Singh roped to play mother of Arjun Kapoor in 2 States Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer upcoming film 2 States by Karan Johar will have one more talented actor in frame. Amrita Singhhas been roped in the film to play the Punjabi mother of Arjun Kapoor. The actress was earlier seen in Sanjay Gupta's crime drama Shootout at Lokhandwala, the 54-year-old played mother to gangster Maya Dolas essayed byVivek Oberoi. In Apoorva Lakhia's Dus Kahaniyaan, she played mother to Minissha Lamba. As per the well-placed source from industry, "Amrita Singh has been roped in by Dharma Productions to play Arjun Kapoor's mother in 2 States." The shooting of 2 States is yet to begin and the makers may start this from February or March. 2 States, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala is based on the 2009 novel of the same name 2 States: The Story of My Marriage which is written by Chetan Bhagat. The film will see Arjun playing the role of a Punjabi boy, while newbie Alia Bhatt plays a Tamilian girl. As per the novel, lead character's mother is a typical Punjabi mother who used to pamper her Punjabi style and society. And to see Amrita in that role, it would be quite interesting. 
Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma Says Not cast for Tanu Weds Manu sequel There has been buzz since quite some time that Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma are considered for the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu; however we guess this is not something the lead pair of upcoming film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is aware of. Present in Delhi to promote the Vishal Bhardwaj film, the rather urbane Imran Khan has unleashed his rustic side as Matru. "I think there was a Matru in me waiting to come out. I thought I was absolutely wrong for this role and even told Vishal Bhardwaj that it was a casting mishap. But Vishal said that casting an actor who is perfect for the role is no challenge but casting a misfit for the role is the challenge, so here I am," said Imran Khan. His co-star Anushka Sharma dressed in ultra-skinny pants and a black three-quarter jacket said, "Bijlee was, by far, Vishal's most complex character. I walked into the role thinking what fun it will be till I realised the numerous layers Bijlee had." The uber chic Anushka as Bijlee also suffers from a Meena Kumari complex. The actress said, laughing, that her character loves misery despite being happy. At the same time, the actors denied rumours that they were being cast together in the sequel to 2011 movie Tanu Weds Manu. Anil Kapoor learning martial art for his next Actors are becoming more and more concerned about their actions. And in an attempt to bring perfection on screen they are undergoing rigorous trainings. The current scenario of Bollywood is all about making things as much as real one can do, and Anil Kapoor is the latest one joining the bandwagon. According to source, the actor who is prepping for his role of special agent in his upcoming TV show 24 will be undergoing training in a special form of martial arts. The show is said to be an action-based show for which Anil Kapoor will get a training called Kali, which is also being given to the Indian Special Task Forces. "The technique of Kali was also used in films like Bourne Ultimatum, Mission Impossible, etc," informs source. Martial Art expert in Kali, Kanishka Sharma will be training Anil Kapoor. He says, "Series director Abhinay Deo introduced me to Anil. I am going to change his body language for the show. The martial arts expert says Kali can help one subdue an opponent in three seconds."

But we guess now the lad is just fed-up with the exposure as he says he wouldn't do it again. "Dabboo only said, �You can take off your shirt, and everyone is doing it'. But I can't do it again because my mom gets really angry," the 24-year-old said on Tuesday at the calendar launch. Meanwhile, Varun said it was a great honour to shoot with a veteran like Ratnani, who has been releasing a celebrity calendar annually since 14 years. "It was a great experience because Dabbooji is in this line for such a long time and so many actors have worked with him.
