Amrita Singh roped to play mother of Arjun Kapoor in 2 States

Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer upcoming film 2 States by Karan Johar will have one more talented actor in frame. Amrita Singhhas been roped in the film to play the Punjabi mother of Arjun Kapoor.

The actress was earlier seen in Sanjay Gupta's crime drama Shootout at Lokhandwala, the 54-year-old played mother to gangster Maya Dolas essayed byVivek Oberoi. In Apoorva Lakhia's Dus Kahaniyaan, she played mother to Minissha Lamba.

As per the well-placed source from industry, "Amrita Singh has been roped in by Dharma Productions to play Arjun Kapoor's mother in 2 States." The shooting of 2 States is yet to begin and the makers may start this from February or March.

2 States, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala is based on the 2009 novel of the same name 2 States: The Story of My Marriage which is written by Chetan Bhagat. The film will see Arjun playing the role of a Punjabi boy, while newbie Alia Bhatt plays a Tamilian girl.

As per the novel, lead character's mother is a typical Punjabi mother who used to pamper her Punjabi style and society. And to see Amrita in that role, it would be quite interesting.
