Just after Tabu's birth, her parents gotdivorced. She completed the degree from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Shabana Azmi (niece of Tabu) and her older sister Farha Naaz were already in the film industry. Tabu started her career with the film "Hum Naujawan" released in the year 1985. At this time she was only 15 years old and played the role of daughter of Dev Anand. She performed first film as an actress was "Coolie No.1″ which was Telugu language and Hindi language film was "Pehla Pehla Pyar". Tabu came into focus from the film "Vijaypath" released in the year 1994. In this film she performed opposite with Ajay Devgan. She got first Filmfare Award for this film as a Best Debut. In the year 1996, Tabu performed into eight films from that two films becomes hit named "Saajan Chale Sasural" with actor Govinda and second film "Jeet".
