By now, everyone knows that DELHI 6 has proved a disappointment. For those who've not been tracking its box-office outcome, you can refer to the 'Opening' and 'Midweek' response to the film.

The question is, how has DELHI 6 performed on weekdays? Did it fall heavily? Monday was part holiday, yet the film fell at several plexes where it was holding fort.

At most single screens, well, if the opening weekend numbers ranged between 15% - 25% across the country, you can easily guess the kind of business it would do on weekdays. There has been a sharp decline from Monday/Tuesday onwards.

The verdict is loud and clear: DELHI 6 has under-performed in India.

What does it mean for UTV? DELHI 6 is an expensive proposition and in view of the fact that the business is seeing a downward pattern, the distributors should end up losing money. Of course, it's a bit too early to gauge the quantum of loss, but seeing the low tide, it's evident that the distributors would find it difficult to recover its costs.

Sometimes, it's not the film, but the price that fails. In this case, the film as also its price has failed.

What does it mean for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra? There's no denying that Rakeysh is a fantastic technician, who knows the craft well. But he has been letdown by the screenplay this time. Also, every film-maker needs to study the viability of the actor before he spends an 'x' amount on a project. Rakeysh should also take a note of it.

What does it mean for Abhishek Bachchan? DRONA (solo Abhishek starrer) was an unmitigated disaster, DOSTANA was an average success (although there are reports that the distributors haven't recovered the huge price they paid for its rights) and now DELHI 6, again a solo hero film, has under-performed in India. His ratings are sure to go down after DELHI 6.

Abhishek set a new world record for maximum public appearances in 12 hours while promoting the film. But the trade would've only jumped with joy if his movies set records at the box-office.

Given the tremendous hype for the film, plus the fact that UTV had gone all out to promote the movie, besides the fact that the film is the next offering from the maker of RANG DE BASANTI, one expected DELHI 6 to open to a smashing start. Keeping in mind the fact that the film was released in as many as 90 screens in America, the film should've started with a bang. But it didn't. Sure, the film has crossed the half-a-million mark in three days, but it should've been close to a million in its opening weekend, frankly.

In U.K., DELHI 6 has met with a terrible fate. The film has had a disappointing start and looking at the numbers and also its screen average, it's evident that the film has been rejected there.

Slumdog Millionaire and its Oscars belong to West, not India

Slumdog Millionare, directed and produced by foreigners has brought oscars for showcasing India's poverty and exposing Mumbai's dirty underbelly. Music composer A R Rehman and sound mixer Resul Pookutty got the top honours at the Academy Awards ceremony and from politicians to the film fraternity, everyone is singing Jai ho.

An intense debate has erupted on the way the celebrations have taken place in the last 24 hours. The one section that has left no stone unturned to claim their share of credit are the politicians who are trying their level best to take the maximum from the Slumdog Millionaire hype.

In Mumbai, political parties have put up posters congratulating the Jai Ho team and child actors from the slums have been promised flats. In the poll season all this seems like a vote gaining gimmick.

However, many critics believe India should not celebrate Slumdog Millionaire’s success at all. But here are the reasons why India can and should celebrate the film's Oscar glory.

* The screenplay has been borrowed from Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup's novel Q & A.

* The Co-Director, Loveleen Tandon, is of Indian origin.

* The lyrics for Jai Ho have been penned by Indian poet Gulzar.

* the sound for Slumdog Millionaire has been designed and mixed by acclaimed Indian technician Resul Pookutty.

Kareena Kapoor has turned writer for her dietician Rujuta Diwekar! Confused? Well Bebo has written a foreword in Rujuta Diwekar’s bestselling book, Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight and in that she has herself revealed her breakfast secrets that lead to her size zero figure.

“Rujuta has changed my perception towards diets and dieting. She has taught me to eat well, eat right and eat regularly. I started working with her around the time I started work on Tashan. Aamir Khan cannot play 'a young boy role'

Mumbai: Actor-turned filmmaker Sanjay Kapoor, who is busy with his film It's My Life, says he roped in Hurman Baweja for the lead role instead of Aamir Khan because the senior actor would not have fitted the character of a young boy.

"You should be looking at what is your story trying to tell. For It's My Life', the role required a young boy. Now obviously Aamir Khan wouldn't have fitted in there. Similarly for the role of a father, I needed someone whose mere presence bears a commanding authority. Of course there was no other choice but Nana Patekar," Sanjay told IANS.

It's My Life is a remake of Siddharth and Genelia D'Souza starrer superhit Telugu film Bommarillu.

Considering Hurman has seen back-to-back failures in Victory and Love Story 2050, does Sanjay have a sense of regret for his choice of leading actor in the film?

"Not at all!. There are two reasons for that. First, you have to be confident about your guy. When I signed him on, Love Story 2050 had not yet been released but I still believed in him. Second, always remember that your product is more important than a star. A good product can work without a known name but a bad product with the biggest of superstars won't work."

Why didn't he think about any actress other than Genelia for female lead?

"Why should I have looked elsewhere when Genelia was just so perfect in the original film Bommarillu. The moment I saw her in the film, I didn't look elsewhere and decided there and then that she would be my leading lady in It's My Life too", Sanjay said.

Speaking about the diminishing boundary between main lead, parallel lead and the next lead in Hindi cinema Sanjay said actors like Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan helped in removing that.

"Look at Aamir Khan in Rang De Basanti. How many actors would have dared to be one of the leads in the film that had so many other prominent characters. Still, he took up the challenge in spite of the director going ahead with almost equal footage to everyone."

He goes on to narrate other examples, "It's not just Rang De Basantibecause even in Dil Chahta Hai he shared frames with other actors. He is now doing the same in Three Idiots as well.

"I must also acknowledge the other actors who are no more insecure about their part in a mega starrer. Saif Ali Khan did what he had never before in Dil Chahta Hai. Now Sharman Joshi isn't worried when he is asked to be a part of Three Idiots."

Produced for $15 million by Britain’s Film4 and Celador Films, “Slumdog Millionaire” has taken $163 million at the worldwide box office with predictions of up to and over $200 million since the film’s Oscar success on Sunday. For those who gambled on the project it means huge profit margins for producers and distributors. Some of those returns are being set up as trust funds for two Indian children who starred in the film by director Danny Boyle and the producers.

For independent filmmakers, high profit margins are good news in an industry that rarely takes risks. "These films are important because they defy conventional wisdom and show that someone can do something completely original and succeed, when so much of the movie industry has been commoditized, " said a Fox Searchlight exec.

Big B teams up with SRK

In the past, Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan starred in many films together. Their combination in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was liked by the audience the most but after that they did not sign any new project together due to personal and professional reasons. But soon we can see the two powerful superstars sharing screen space once again. Choreographer turned filmmaker Farah Khan is bringing the two stars again in her upcoming flick ‘Happy New Year’, the project which was on hold for long.

Farah is reworking on the script which she actually zeroed much before 'Om Shanti Om' but due to Big B’s ill health and Shahrukh’s prior appointment, the film stopped at the pre-production stage. News is that Amitabh has already given dates for the film and Shahrukh is expected to give his dates soon.

Abhishek and Delhi 6 become 'butt of ridicule'

It has started all over again, i.e. SMS jokes being floated around the country after the release of a film. Of course the intensity, volume and composition is much higher when a film is being disliked and the same is happening in case of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's latest release Delhi 6 which is fast becoming a butt of joke.

Sample these quick one liners that are currently making the rounds:

- A far better title would have been 'Silly Six'
- Six has gone for a Sixer

It all started with Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag when dozens of Ramu bashing, Aag bashing, Big B bashing and 'everything- associated-with-the-film' bashing jokes started making the rounds.

So much so that after a while, Ramu himself was seen smiling at the jokes and even became an active participant once he moved on to newer projects (check his blogs and you would know that the man who is having most fun at the expense of Aag is Ramu himself!)

Wonder whether Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra would be seen smiling when he hears this one:

- We thought that he was the Rang De man and he turned out to be the Aks man!

Going back in time, the trend picked up after Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and each subsequent disaster was ripped in and out by people who had seen the film and even those who hadn't seen it (Ramu had once commented that if only the originators of all the negative word of mouth would have actually paid for the ticket and seen the film in theaters, his Aag may have actually become a hit due to sheer volumes)!

Anyways, so the film that seemed to be 'targeted' henceforth were mega debacles like Saawariya, Tashan, Love Story 2050, Drona and very recently Chandni Chowk To China.

However, it seems that the worst was reserved for Delhi 6, as can be seen from the array of SMSs that started floating around the moment press and premier shows of the film came to an end on Thursday night.

So perplexed was the audience with the film that one of the first SMSs to arrive read as:

- A documentary on the city of Delhi can be shot in 3 days for 35000 rupees. Wonder why it took Mr. Mehra 3 years and 35 crore rupees?

Well, some may say that the film was meant for a class audience, it had a subtext to it, there was a layered narrative, one has to be seen twice to appreciate it's depth etc. etc. etc. However, audience doesn't seem to be in a mood to really buy the logic. No wonder, there is humor abound in the 'complex' theory, as conveyed by the following SMS:

- BREAKING NEWS. Rakeysh Mehra is now saying that you first have to see Delhi 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 to understand the point of 6, which he is promising to make now since 6 tanked. He can then re-release 6 after those!

Of course, it is too early to say if the film has tanked or whether it is managing to keep its head above the water at least. However, one can't ignore some brilliant observation that comes in the form of following SMS which is simply priceless:

- The competition is heating up. If Dad gave Aag, son gave Drona. Pa gave Aks so not to be left behind, laadla bitwa now gives 'F#¤KS'!

With such all around negativity dominating weekend entertainment for those who love their mobiles, one wonders what the general reaction of audience would be as the week progresses.

The weekend collections should be able to tell the tale while the dreaded weekdays would indicate whether the film does carry some pull and indeed manages to find a certain segment of audience which still wishes to give this film a chance.

There are doubts though, as conveyed by this following piece of SMS writing:

- Forget 'monkey man', there is no audience man!

Russian Celebrity Says Not Involved in Billionaire's Car Accident

Russian TV star Tina Kandelaki denies she was in the car with Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov when he crashed his Ferrari on the Riviera Saturday, Reuters news agency reported Tuesday.A police source in Nice said 31-year-old Kandelaki was treated for minor injuries after businessman Suleiman Kerimov’s black Ferrari slammed into a tree. But the presenter said she was at home all the time with her husband and children.

The French police source confirmed Kandelaki was briefly treated at Saint Roch hospital in Nice on Saturday suffering from slight burns to the legs following the accident on the city’s Promenade des Anglais.

But Kandelaki, who has an untainted public image as a presenter of children’s programmes and host of a popular chat-show “Details”, was determined to tough out the scandal. She told Russian journalists she had been recovering from mumps which stopped her making any public appearances.

Her husband Andrei Kondrakhin a wealthy businessman has contradicted the version Kandelaki presented. He said she really was in France with Kerimov on Saturday but not in the car at the time of the accident.

Kerimov`s condition is still a question at the moment. A hospital spokesman in Marseille said on Monday that he was in a critical condition, suffering from burns.

He is worth $7.1 billion (3.6 billion pounds) according to Forbes magazine, whose annual survey of the world’s richest people put him at No. 72, and made him the 11th richest Russian.

Russian Tennis star Anna Kournikova and her longtime boyfriend Enrique Iglesias are awaiting their first child, Kournikova's unnamed friend was quoted as saying by Russian tabloid Zhizn (Life).

They have not planned this but their duo is very likely to become a trio. They will have a baby soon, the newspaper quoted the source as saying.

The tabloid added that Kournikova rounded belly was clearly visible during the couple's recent voyage on a yacht. So it was an early sign of pregnancy. Also, in a recent interview Kournikova revealed that she had never been so happy in her life when asked about her relations with Enrique Iglesias.

Not simply because we share a Russian heritage, either. But by all accounts, Zhukova (the daughter of another oligarch) is a smart and well-educated operator. When she and Abramovich got together, the whispered comments in Belgravia were that he was trading up - away from the sort of loyal woman who had stood by him while he was on the way up, and in the direction of someone who could add culture and chic to the cash.

Ben Affleck and friends party for peace

This Wednesday, following the V-Day awareness, the Congo cause got even more celeb support from Ben Affleck. Children Mending Hearts organized the event to honor international medical corps for their hard work in supporting the abused women and children in the DRC.

The event honored advocates, made some noise for the cause, and auctioned off some sweet prizes like private dinners cooked by star chefs. Other stars who attended the event include Alyssa Milano, Anderson Cooper, Andie MacDowell, Hank Azaria, Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Joel Madden. The night was capped off by a performance by Sheryl Crow. These CGG favorites have all been very active in the cause.

Children Mending Hearts is an organization that began a global arts exchange between at-risk children in the US and abroad. They also work to educate and raise awareness about the conflict in the Congo which has been going on for 20 years and has taken 5.4 million lives.

Ben has been a long time advocate for taking action in the Congo. But he was there to honor another Congo hero, Anderson Cooper, for his work bringing attention to war-ravaged regions of Africa.

Cooper sent Ben some kind words of his own, saying. "He's become an important advocate in informing Americans about the situation in Congo," Cooper said of the actor-director to applause, adding, "He deserves a lot of credit for that."

The stars also got the chance to voice their opinion on wonderwall.com's twitter page. Each celeb who wrote something on the page raised even more funds for the cause.

Entourage-bombshell Emmanuelle Chriqui took the time to voice her concern for women in the area, "I'm here because the Congo is the most dangerous place in the world for women and girls to be." Supermodel Inspired to Join the Battle Against Breast Cancer

The beautiful Naomi Campbell’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. Armani opens a new store and new minds

It seemed everyone had suited up in Armani for the grand opening of the new Armani store on 5th Avenue in New York City yesterday night. But they weren’t just there to celebrate a fashion pad for the rich and famous, they were there to commend Georgio Armani’s generous donation of $1 million to NYC public schools.

John Mayer and Chace Crawford chatted about their favorite Armani suits while Victoria Beckham showed off her sparkeling Armani dress amongst a sea of other stars in the new store. Other stars that attended the event include Leonardo DiCaprio, Alicia Keys, and Robert DeNiro.

Armani may have spent millions on the new store, but he felt he could throw a few towards education. This extra million would have actually gone to his customary fashion show and celebrity dinner. But the money will now be used to develop an arts education program for schools in the Bronx.

The store, designed by the Italian architect Fuksas, has a futuristic feel with a cream colored staircase that resembles NYC’s famous Guggenheim museum. Mayor Bloomberg called four-floored fashion haven the “Guggenheim Two.”

Mayor Bloomberg spoke at the event and told the crowd that Armani’s donation, which will go in part to fashion programs in New York schools, will ensure New York’s reputation as the “fashion capital of the world" – "and may even help produce the next Armani.”
