FRANCO NERO FELL IN LOVE WITH VANESSA REDGRAVE

FRANCO NERO fell in love with his wife VANESSA REDGRAVE at second sight - he thought she was ugly the first time the British actress was pointed out to him.

The pair played lovers in 1967 movie Camelot and director Joshua Logan was hoping for an on-set romance to boost the couple's chemistry.

But when the filmmaker first pointed Redgrave out to his Lancelot, Nero felt sure the wrong woman had been cast as the alluring Guenevere.

He recalls, "I see this woman who is wearing blue jeans with holes, glasses and no make-up. I was sort of cold when he introduced us.

"I said later, 'Josh, are you sure you got the right actress? She's ugly!' He said, 'Don't worry, you'll see.' I was a young Italian boy who thought women had to be dark like Sophia Loren."

Nero was in for a shock the next time he saw Redgrave, after she invited him to join her for dinner.

He tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "I knocked on the door and a lady opens the door. She was a beautiful lady. Fantastic. I said, 'I was invited here by Vanessa Redgrave for dinner. She said, 'I am Vanessa Redgrave!' She was completely changed. Unbelievable."

KARINA SMIRNOFF WANTS TONY BLAIR?

Top dancer KARINA SMIRNOFF hopes reports suggesting former British Prime Minister TONY BLAIR is set to waltz onto U.S. TV show DANCING WITH THE STARS are true - because she'd like to partner up with the former leader.

She tells WENN, "I read online that the producers were trying to get Tony Blair to do the show and I read that they would pair him with me, which would be pretty amazing.

The I Am Legend star insists the whole project was akin to teaching his son to hunt - while his worried mum watched from afar on set in China.

In a family chat on U.S. TV show Oprah on Monday (17May10), Jada said, "I learned why, in African tribes, men would come to the village and remove their sons to initiate them into manhood, because, as a mother, it is an excruciating thing to watch... That mother instinct kicks in.

"It was a ferocious fight... I was like, 'My priority is Jaden'. It's a balance. I told Will, 'I understand that there's certain things you are trying to put in, but, at the end of the day, he's 11. We just had to find a nice balance. I'm telling you he's a different child from his experience in China."

In trying to explain his motives for working his son hard, Will added, "We've been having this passionate debate. I feel like greatness lives on the edge of destruction... The reason why someone is great is because they survived death."

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER IN HOSPITAL?

Movie star-turned-politician ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER paid a visit to his former stunt double on Thursday (13May10) after the action man was admitted to hospital.

The California governor stopped by the medical facility in Los Angeles to see Billy Lucas, who worked with the actor on films including Terminator 2: Judgment Day, action-comedy Jingle All The Way and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Lucas has not revealed the nature of his ailment, but told TMZ.com: "Everything's fine."

Schwarzenegger previously visited his long-time pal in hospital when he underwent back surgery a year ago.

Hollywood actresses Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz are said to be embroiled in a bitter battle over baseball player Alex Rodriguez.

Hudson believes that Diaz is trying to seek revenge for hooking up with Justin Timberlake just days after the pair split in early 2007.

Andrew Tweedy, 30, appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court in North Shields alongside Christopher Swindle, 23, and Christopher Finlinson, 22, reports telegraph.co.uk.

Tweedy's girlfriend Emma Stanners, 29 - mother of their baby son - faces a charge of money laundering, Northumbria Police said.

Five other men who were held in connection with the raid have been released on police bail. They struck at the Hailsham Avenue post office at around 4 p.m. and escaped with the shop takings.

Cole had said in an interview last year that she hoped fatherhood would help her elder brother change his ways.

"I haven't actually spoken to him for a while, but he's got a baby and I'm hoping that will be his turning point,'' she said.
