The nominations for the 85th Academy Awards were announced recently, with ‘Lincoln’ a historical by Steven Spielberg topping with 12 nominations including best picture.
This is Spielberg’s seventh nomination, the previous films include ‘Saving Private Ryan‘, ‘War horse‘, ‘Munich‘ and ‘Schindler’s List‘.
The surprise in the nomination list came from Ang lee‘s ‘Life of Pi‘, which earned 11 nominations including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best picture and Best Director. It was followed by ‘Les Miserables‘ and ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ each receiving eight nominations each.
