Katherine Jenkins Tackles Half Marathon Classical singer Katherine Jenkins has raised $7,200 (£4,500) for charity after tackling a halfmarathon on Sunday (07Oct12). The Welsh star donned her jogging shoes to compete in London's Royal Parks Foundation HalfMarathon, and even took to Twitter during the race to post a photo of herself at the halfway mark. Jenkins, who had just three weeks of training, finished the 13-mile (21-kilometre) trek in a little over two hours, and is handing the donations her team pulled in to the Grief Encounter Project, which helps youngsters cope with the loss of a parent. She tweeted, "We made it! In 2 hours 4 (minutes)! Thanks to all who came out to cheer us on! Again, thanks for your support! £4,500 raised so far!"
