Nelly Furtado, Timbaland facing copyright infringement lawsuit

Canadian/Portuguese singer Nelly Furtado and producer Timbaland are facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from record label executives in Finland.

The two have been accused of borrowing segments of someone else's song to create the track 'Do It', which had appeared on the singer's 2006 album Loose, and was a hit song in 2007.

Timbaland denied he had "stolen" extracts from 2000 computer demo Acidjazzed Evening by Finnish artist Janne Suni, or the remixed 2002 version by Norwegian musician Glenn Rune Gallefoss.

Gallefoss subsequently filed legal action against Furtado's Universal Finland record company bosses, but Helsinki District Court dismissed the case, and an appeals court is currently dealing it with.

And the case against Furtado and Timbaland refuses to go away - officials at Finland's Kernel Records, the company which owns the original sound recordings of Acidjazzed Evening, have now filed suit in Florida.

Papers filed at the Miami-Dade District Court on June 11 suggest Timbaland used a computer programme to "knowingly and wilfully steal" Gallefoss' tune as he created the beat for Do It, according to Allhiphop.com.

And the record company bosses are planning to use Timbaland's own words against him by quoting him in their lawsuit.

They claim the producer gave two radio interviews after the first accusations of plagiarism arose, and spoke about the allegations. He also attempted to explain his take on sampling a song and stealing it.

"Sample and stole is two different things. Stole is like I walked in your house, watched you make it... went to my house and told Nelly, 'Hey, I got a great song for you'," Contactmusic quoted him as reportedly telling one interviewer.

"Sample is like you heard it somewhere, and you just sampled. Maybe you didn't know who it was by because it don't have the credits listed (sic)," he had added.

The Fins are claiming copyright infringement and request an injunction prohibiting the further release, reprinting, performance and sale of the song Do It.

Lenny Kravitz desperate for sex

He has pledged that he won't have sex again until he finds the perfect woman to marry after getting tired of casual relationships.

However, Kravitz is praying he finds the right woman soon - because he's desperate to get intimate.

"It's very hard. For some periods of time it's easy, and then it's really hard. It goes back and forth. It's not hard just walking through life, and you see women, and I admire them - I love being around women. But if you're seeing someone, you've got to explain, 'Well this is what I'm doing in life - so that's not going to be a part of it'," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

"Right now I'm just kind of sailing and watching and waiting and trying to be patient. There are times when I'm patient and there's times when I'm, 'Come on, Lord, bring this for me...' " he added.

American Idol Judge Paula Abdul Admits Painkiller Addiction

American Idol judge Paula Abdul has admitted to a crippling painkiller addiction.

In this week’s biggest “duh” moment, the pop singer and choreographer, who has kept audiences amused with her doped-up antics on American Idol, finally admitted what everyone with two brain cells to rub together already knew: she’s addicted to painkillers.

Abdul, who protested such accusations in the past by claiming she’s never even been drunk, says she started popping pills to compensate for dance injuries.

“I couldn’t cancel my tour,” Abdul says in this month’s issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. “I didn’t want anyone to count me out. I tried to keep everything hush-hush.”

“I’m an old-school professional. Never let them see you sweat.”

In 2005 Abdul says was diagnosed with "reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome," a neurological disorder that causes extreme pain. The illness caused teeth chattering and shingles-like lesions. To help, Abdul received regular shots of lidocaine, wore a patch that delivered a painkiller 80 times more powerful than morphine and often took muscle relaxers.

All of these left her sleepless and caused her to “get weird,” she says -- leading many American Idol fans to speculate she was high on the air.

But now, Abdul says, she’s kicked the habit. She checked into rehab last Thanksgiving.

"I could have killed myself," Abdul tells the magazine.

"Withdrawal -- it's the worst thing. I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain. It was excruciating."

"At my very core," she concludes, "I did not like existing the way I had been.”

While wishing Abdul the best, we can’t help but wonder...if the pain is so bad, how is she dealing with it now without pills? Has she been miraculously cured? Amazing what good a new single -- Abdul’s I’m Just Here for the Music just dropped -- and the publicity it necessitates can do.

Julia Roberts 'Drunk' at Tom Hanks Tribute

Julia Roberts gave a drunken and slurred speech peppered with profanity at a tribute to Tom Hanks. The event was sponsored by the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
At the ceremony, where Hanks was honored with the Chaplin Award, Roberts gave a slurry yet hilarious speech that often made no sense but kept the audience cracking up.

"Alright well, it's late and I'm paying my babysitter overtime and I have to pee,” she began. “So Tom, everybody f***ing likes you. All my bits are gone. Listen, I had lunch today with Rita, and her t*ts were here [motioned high] and her waist was here [motioned small] and her a** was like that [motioned high], so what can I tell you that's new? Tom Hanks, what the f***?"

Drunky McDrunkerson then gave her synopsis of Hanks’ film career, much to the delight of fellow imbiber Charlize Theron.

"I love the Cohen brothers, but the hair Tom (in 2004's Ladykillers), I didn't even know what the f*** that movie was about! You in the airport with the accent (she's talking about Terminal)? It was a pass for me. Airport? Were you just an immigrant lost? I didn't know. I love you, and I didn't know what to do, really. God, I’m wearing the same f***ing dress tonight as your publicist! Listen, I've got to get home. But this much we know... I will say this: Tom Hanks, I love you."

Before leaving the stage, Roberts got caught in that alcoholic twilight moment, becoming transfixed by the darkness over the audience. "It's so dark out there, I feel like I’m in space," she said. "An audience member held up a cell phone. Thank you, whoever just made it light. (Lost creator and Star Trek director) JJ Abrams, are you here?"
