Bhoot Returns Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
Ram Gopal Varma's last successful film as director was Sarkar, more than half-a-decade ago in 2005. Since then, he has directed several films, all of which have been massive disasters. This time around, he returns with the second part in the Bhoot' series. The first film released in 2003 and remains arguably the best horror film ever made in Bollywood. Bhoot Returns is the story of the Awasthi family, who move into a haunted house, where tenants tend to vanish. Tarun Awasthi (JD Charavarthy) grabs his opportunity to buy the house for much below the market value. He moves into the house with his wife (Manisha Koirala), sister (Madhu Shalini), daughter Nimmi (Alayana Sharma) and son (Kaushank). Bhoot Returns Review Horror films are made to scare the audience. Here, with Bhoot Returns, you wonder if RGV's motive behind this film was to scare or make the audience laugh. The script is weak and the story is predictable : Tarun's daughter Nimmu finds a doll, which was gifted to her from her friend, who is only visible to her. Soon, members of the family go missing and it's a fight for survival. Those typical unnatural occurrences, a must for every Hindi horror film, follow : footsteps, weird noises and banging door : none of which are scary. For a change, RGV gets the camera angles right. The 3D effect is decent too. The background score should have been better. Baby Alayana Sharma, Madhu Shalini and Manisha Koirala do well. The rest are okay. Overall, Bhoot Returns isn't one bit scary. It film ends up being unintentionally funny. So is it RGV's worst? Not quite. It's hard to beat AAG and Department. He has tried his best though. Talaash Music Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
The first music review of Talaash by Abhishek Sharma Well, the wait is finally over! The music of "Talaash" is a mega release for several reasons. An Aamir Khan movie is nothing short of an event. Things simply reach dizzying heights considering the fact that, Talaash is his first release in 3 years (3 Idiots released in December 2009). This time he's paired opposite the newlywed Kareena Kapoor and the talented veteran Rani Mukerji. Music Director Ram Sampath made little impact with his initial soundtracks (Khakee, Family, Luv Ka The End..) but he got recognition with the musical success of Delhi Belly. Since then he seems to have become an Aamir Khan regular as he impressed with some soulful compositions in the TV series Satyamev Jayate'. However, Talaash is the biggest film of his career and he is aided by the legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar. It's with humongous expectations that we explore, rather look forward to savoring the music album of this Excel Entertainment's dream production. Talaash Music Review Listen to the full songs in Talaash 1) Muskaanein Jhooti Hai: This opening number of the album is instantly catchy. The video promo is already out and reminds one of the Madhubala's evergreen classic Aaiye Meherbaa'. Remember the husky voice behind the song Khoya Khoya Chand' in Anurag Kashyap's Shaitaan? Suman Sridhar has utilized this huge opportunity to the fullest as she sounds effortless in the song. This is not the kind of song that makes one head for that dance floor in the discotheque. However, when seen on screen it can well be expected to be a live wire. (3/5) 2) Jee Le Zaraa : The album enters into terrains of contemporary Bollywood's mushy moods in "Jee le Zaraa". Vishal Dadlani's soft crooning vocals delivered in streams of light-hearted soft-rock ballad orchestrations. Ram Sampath produces a gem as his composition gets steam from the impressive poetically descriptive wordings by Javed Akhtar. The song grows on you on repeated hearings. (3.5/5) 3) Jiya Lage Na: When the man (Ram Sampath) is at the helm of the music, his better half can't be far behind; Sona Mohapatra makes an entry with a classy number, Jiya Lage Na. She caught everyone's attention with her stupendous singing in Mujhe Kya Bechega Rupaiya' from Satyamev Jayate. Jiya Lage Na' is essentially a fusion, classical with a slightly western touch having soulful lyrics. Samsung-[v] Super Singer Contest winner Ravindra Upadhyay is totally convincing in his sultry rendition. (3.5/5) 4) Hona Hai Kya : This is a highly situational song as the wording reflects the Suspense and Thriller genre of the movie. It is an erotically charged solo sung with gusto by Ram Sampath himself. The tempo sees a gradual and soft transition from fast to slow. (2.5/5) 5) Lakh Duniya Kahe : Sampath again, but this time it's a rank high-quality gripping soft song. If you are looking for music that is more for your mood rather than to make you move, then Lakh Duniya Kahe' is for you. Feelings and emotions are felt and this is where the song tries to reach. Deep meanings in the lyrics of Javed Akhtar beautify the piece. The background chorus is sweet and magnifies the feel of the song. (3.5/5) The music of Talaash is neither too commercial nor too serious. It is not catchy, too melodious or instantly likeable but it amazingly keeps the momentum within a particular genre. The musical compositions do carry themselves well and leaves one satisfied to a certain extent. To add to that, Javed Akhtar does stay on the top with non redundant lyrics. The soundtrack of Talaash is based on situational events of the script and will be better received, when watched on screen. Rating: The music album is out on YouTube. Student Of The Year Movie Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
Karan Johar is one of the most loved and respected directors in the industry and Student Of The Year : his first film without Shahrukh Khan : is probably his biggest test. With 3 newcomers, Karan returns to what he does best, a candy floss romcom starring Varun Dhawan, Siddarth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The film also features Rishi Kapoor and little Anjali (now 24) from Kuch Kuch Hota Jai, Sana Saeed. Story: Student Of The Year is set in St Teresa's High School, one of the most prestigious schools in the country. Most students here are filthy rich, drive a Ferrari and wear designer clothes. One such student is Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhawan), son of one of India's richest men (played by Ram Kapoor). Rohan doesn't get along with his father, who is overtly critical and under-estimates him. He is in love with Shanaya Singhania (Alia Bhatt). She loves him too, but isn't too comfortable with Rohan's closeness with school mate Tanya (Sana Saeed). Enter Abhimanyu Singh (Siddharth Malhotra), who comes from a middle-class background and has ambitions of making it big. Initially he doesn't get along with Rohan, but after a Football match, the two become good friends. Soon, Abhimanyu falls for Shanaya, who also has feelings towards him. Or does she? There is also a major school competition for the prized Student Of The Year' trophy. Student Of The Year Review Student Of The Year is a typical Karan Johar film; with slightly over-the-top characters, huge sets, beautiful costumes : infact, every frame in the film is picture-perfect and larger-than-life. Every newcomer gets a grand intro; Varun Dhawan as a rockstar, Alia Bhatt's reminds you of Poo (Kareena) in K3G and Siddarth Malhotra makes a Hrithik Roshan like entry. The first half is a lot of fun, and at times, reminds you of classics like Main Hoon Na and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikhander. The film has drama, subtle romance but never gets melodramatic. Karan Johar films are known to make the audience cry, Student Of The Year doesn't. It's more of a fun-filled entertainer, than a emotional drama. It wouldn't be incorrect to say, this is Karan Johar's most light-hearted and fun film since his directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He narrates the story through a series of flashbacks, which culminates into a brilliantly written and executed climax. So any negatives? Not many. The film tends to drag a bit in the second half. Also, the length (2 hours 26 mins) should ideally have been shorter. Vishal-Shekhar's music and background score goes well with the film. Disco Dewaane and Ishq Wala Love are my personal favorites. Niranjan Iyengar's dialogues are well-written. Ayananka's camerawork is extraordinary. The performances are good. Varun Dhawan is fantastic and performs like a seasoned actor. He looks good on-screen and emotes well. Alia Bhatt has to be one of the cutest newcomers in the industry. She looks stunning in a bikini too. Acting-wise, she does well, but her character doesn't really demand on-screen histrionics. Siddharth Malhotra gets a few scenes right, but he has a along way to go as an actor. He doesn't quite get his expressions right in a few important scenes. Again, it's only his debut, he will improve. Rishi Kapoor is brilliant as a gay dean. Ronit Roy is effective. Kayoze Irani (Boman Irani's son) makes a confident debut. Ram Kapoor is fabulous. Sana Saeed looks hot. There are several special appearances in the film : Kajol, Boman Irani, Farah Khan, Vaibhabi Merchant. And no, you wont get to see SRK in SOTY. Overall, there isn't a dull moment in Student Of The Year. It has something in it for everyone : romance, action, entertainment, good performances and catchy music. Go for it. Khiladi 786 Music Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
Chartbuster music plays a vital role to ensure a good opening at the ticket window. Akshay Kumar has been a juggernaut at box office this year and music from films like Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2 have been universally successful. But, whether it is mega releases in the last quarter of 2012 or other big banner Akki films this year, Khiladi 786 had the least buzz and there were not many expectations from the album either. But the very fact that it marks the return of Akki-Himesh Hit Jodi enhances the prospect from this album. Let's see what Khiladi 786 has in the offering. Khiladi 786 Music Review of Lonely Lonely: The album kick offs with a fun outing "Lonely" which begins well with brisk rap by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Himesh carries the momentum forward. The lines "Teri Yaad Yaad Me" reminds you of signature Himesh tunes and are high point for the song. The composer also compliments his association with Akki by lending lines from their chartbuster "Main Jahan Rahoo" (Namastey London) and he deserves a pat for fitting them perfectly. Shabbir Ahmed supports the composition well with his lyrics. Though there are a few moments where Reshammiya sounds excessively nasal, this song is still a winner with an eye-catching video. HIT (3.5/5) Khiladi 786 Music Review: Balma Balma: Composer Himesh Reshammiya pays his homage to the Legendry R.D.Burman in the next outing which is kind of an item song. Balma has a retro feel and is quite obviously situational. Sameer's writing is apt and use of phrases like "Fire Brigade", "Baarood" & "Atom Bomb" are catchy. Indian Idol-5 winner Sreeram gets his second bollywood song after Ishq Risk Remix (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) and his profound vocals astonishingly suit well to Akshay Kumar. Still this song can unarguably be called a Shreya Ghoshal number for the sultriness she brings to the composition. Average (3/5) Long Drive: The next track in the album is a Punjabi number and who better than Mika Singh? While Himesh offers a fusion of desi and western tunes, Mika showcases his talent to blend Indian folk and rock notes well. This song is likely to click with the youth. Average (3/5) Sari Sari Raat: The album already has three good compositions and fortunately the tempo doesn't drop. Sari Sari Raat comes straight from the Himesh School which boasts of poignant scores like Veeraniya' (Namastey London) & Teri Meri' (Bodyguard). Touching meaningful lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed and Himesh's use of instrumentals goes well with the genre of the song. HIT (3.5/5) Hookah Bar: Hookah Bar is a song with a huge influence of instrumental vocals. It is sung by Himesh, Vineet Singh and Aman Trikha. The composition begins well with foot tapping beats but somehow plunges as it progresses. Average. (2.5/5) Tu Hoor Pari: Himesh again tries hand with a Punjabi offering in the album and this time with a Sufi touch. The lyrics don't quite really impress and vocals by Javed & Shreya Ghoshal seem to be repetitive and taut. Strictly Average. (2/5) Khiladi 786 Music Review of Khiladi 786 Title Song Khiladi Bhaiyya - Khiladi 786 Title Track: I guess the composer kept the best for the last. The title song of Khiladi 786 is a smash hit all the way. The song begins with an addictive tune which you can't really help but listen time and again. Quite surprisingly Himesh has given the charge to the young singers (Vineet Singh, Aman Trikha, Yashraj Kapil, Alam Gir Khan and Rajdeep Chatterji) from his club for this number rather than relying on a veteran. Vineet Singh stands out. Though the vocals could have been better in the middle portions, the tailor made lyrics for Akshay does the trick. "Khiladi Bhaiyya" has already become a rage amongst Khiladi fans since the launch of the teaser. CHARTBUSTER (4/5) Final Verdict: Khiladi 786 exceeds expectations and will definitely contribute its share in giving the film a good box office start. It offers nothing new and is a regular run of the mill masala album. While there are many decent songs, one could have expected one more chartbuster. The reason for this could be that the album contains as many as 7 different songs (when all other chartbuster albums restrict to 4-5 compositions these days). Well, all said, considering the film's genre, we will give a THUMBS UP to this album. Rating: Music review by Archit Mishra. Vote for your favorite song in Khiladi 786. You can pick two. Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
"Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana" is a Punjabi tadka film. The milieu, the dialogues and humour is so akin to the region and its people. The setting is authentic and identifiable. It is loaded with eccentric characters, hero's vilayat dream, a don chasing him, wedding planning, subdued romance, underwear jokes, suspense, a funeral, a godwoman, lots of flatulence, brash humour and a crow. The crux of the story is the frantic search for a much-coveted recipe of a chicken curry, named after its creator. It is also orphan, amoral Omi Khurana's (Kunal Kapoor) journey of romance and self realization. To escape the wrath of desi don Shanty (Manish Makhija), Omi returns to Punjab from London to once again rob his grandfather, Daarji (Vinod Nagpal). On reaching his village in Punjab, he realizes how his family fortune and everything else has changed over the last 10 years. Unrepentant and caught between the don and his greed for making a quick buck, Omi is forced to find the recipe of Chicken Khurana by Kehar Singh (Vipin Sharma), a rival restaurant owner. Kunal Kapoor, in a straight forward performance, is good. For a moment or two, one sees shades of Aamir Khan in him but it passes off as he naturally fits into the skin of his character. Vinod Nagpal of "Hum Log" fame is natural as ever, portraying his Daarji' part effortlessly. A treat to watch. The cast, well-supported by Huma Qureshi as Harman, Omi's childhood sweetheart, is realistic and rustically Punju. Jeet, his lovable brother seems like a Rajesh Khanna clone. Seema Kushal as Omi's aunt is endearing. Rajesh Sharma as the uncouth and gross uncle, Titu mama is excellent. Dolly Ahluwalia as the pot smoking god-woman is good, but wasted. Amit Trivedi's unconventional music score is fine. His compositions are fresh and are devoid of the run-of-the-mill, jarring bhangra beats. Director Sameer Sharma, writer Sumit Batheja and producer Anurag Kashyap have very effectively showcased a nice romantic film with fine nuances of semi-noir characters. The highlight of this film is realism and the trio present rustic Punjab with great conviction. Unfortunately the pace of the story telling is lackadaisical. With too many characters and sub-tracks, the screenplay lacks originality. What takes the cake is the denouement; it seems to be a straight lift from the TV show "Sach Ka Saamna". Here, instead of the TV studio, the revelation is done at the Khurana Dhaba. Also the Bengali song sung by Jeet at the end is probably an obvious attempt at national integration. While it has all the ingredients for an excellent film, it is not up to the mark. It probably required a stronger, spicier tadka to pep it up. Jab Tak Hai Jaan Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
QUICK REVIEW of Jab Tak Hai Jaan(page will be updated shortly) Yash Chopra is renowned for his eternal romantic love stories and Jab Tak Hai Jaan is his most intense romantic film ever. The characters here are arrogant, egoistic and unforgiving. His heroine : if I remember right : has just one scene in a saree. Yet, his magical touch is visible throughout, in every romantic scene in the film. There are several twists and turns in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, all of which mostly work. Coming to the negatives, the film is lengthy (close to 3 hours) and slow-paced. Also, the music (A.R.Rahman) is one of the weakest for an Yash Chopra film in a long time. It has a few good songs like Challa' and Saans', but pales in comparison to some of the tracks from Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara (arguably the best Hindi album ever). The performances are very good : Shahrukh Khan, quite obviously, has the meatiest role and does very well. The intensity he brings to the character of Samar in the second half (as the army officer), reminds you of his fabulous performance in Chak De India. As the younger Samar, he is at his charming best. Although he looks a little too old for the young lover-boy that he plays on screen, he looks good with Katrina and the two share excellent chemistry. Watch out for the dance sequence just before the Ishq Shava song, which is followed by one of my favorite scenes in the film : at the railway station where Samar declares his love to Meera. Anushka Sharma has the smallest role, but makes an impact. Her loud, bubbly and talkative character is quite similar to Geet in Jab We Met. Neetu Singh, Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher have one scene each. Overall, Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a good one-time watch, a modern take on old fashioned love. It's slow-paced and tends to drag in the second half, but the performances (especially SRK and Anushka) more than make up for it. Also, don't be in a hurry to leave the cinema hall. The clippings of Yashji during the closing credits, will make you cry. Rating: This was a quick review, page will be updated soon. Stay tuned. HOT MODELS BIKINI PHOTO SHOOT PICTURES
Talaash Movie Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
It's been a long wait for an Aamir Khan film.. 35 months after the release of 3 Idiots, Khan returns with Reema Kagti's Talaash, co-written by the writers of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Reema and Zoya Akhtar). The film also features two of the most talented leading ladies in the industry, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji. Story: Talaash revolves around a mysterious accident of a popular film actor. Police officer Surjan Singh Shekhawat (Aamir Khan) heads the investigation team. Devrath (Raj Kumar Yadav) a junior police officer and a stunningly gorgeous sex worker Rosy (Kareena Kapoor), help him solve the mystery. Talaash is also about Shekhawat's personal life. He is yet to get over his son's tragic death. Blaming himself for the accident, Shekhawat suffers from Insomnia. Leaving his wife Roshni (Rani Mukherji) back home, he spends his nights driving through isolated streets. Talaash Review First Half: Talaash begins well, director Reema Kagti takes her own sweet time in establishing the characters and the mystery. The narrative is gripping and absorbing enough to keep you hooked throughout the first half, even though the pace tends to slacken at times. No screen-time is wasted on forced comedy, action or unnecessary item numbers. Every shot has a meaning and takes the story forward. At interval, you don't really know what to expect next. Second Half: The mystery begins to unfold and from here on, expect the unexpected. The ending is outrageous, something that Indian audience wouldn't expect from a big budget commercial film. While the writers convincingly explain the mystery, you will either end up loving it or walk away ridiculing the climax. Performances: As a hardened cop who struggles with his own personal issues, Aamir Khan delivers a nuanced performance. Watch out for the scene in the second half when Rani Mukherji confronts him, the pain in his eyes of a father who holds himself responsible for the death of his son and the sea-side sequence with Kareena Kapoor when he breaks down : Aamir is brilliant. Rani Mukherji does her bit as a pained mother. Kareena Kapoor's performance reminds you of her Chameli act. Both actresses don't get enough scope to showcase their acting talent. Nawazuddin Siddiqui makes an impact. Raj Kumar Yadav does well. Mohanan's camera work is excellent, he captures the Mumbai night in all it's glory. Dialogues by Farhan Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap are good. Ram Sampath's music isn't very catchy, but is situational and well-placed in the film. Jee Le Zaraa is a gem. Overall, Talaash is a well-directed film with good performances. Most of the film will be loved by the urban audience, but it's the unconventional ending that may not be liked by all. Khiladi 786 Movie Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
Back in the 90s, the Khiladi' series wasn't a hugely successful franchise, nor was Akshay the superstar' that he is today. With death-defying stunts, over-the-top action and comedy, the Khiladi films catered mainly to the masses. A decade later, Akshay returns with Khiladi 786 also starring Asin, Himesh Reshammiya and Mithun Chakraborty. The film is directed by debutante director Ashish R Mohan. Khiladi 786 Story: There isn't any. Khiladi 786 Review As an assistant director for films like All The Best, Sunday and the entire Golmaal series, director Ashish R Mohan, quite obviously, comes from the Rohit Shetty school of film-making. Flying cars, high-octane action sequences, men flying around all over the place, the hero walking and dancing on people's heads.. Khiladi 786 has some of the most exaggerated scenes you'll ever see. To add to the fun, we have some outrageously funny character names : Akshay is Bahattar Singh (72 Singh), his father is Sattar Singh (70 Singh) and his uncle is Ikhatthar Singh (71 Singh). There is a underworld don named TTT : Tatya Tukaram Tendulkar!! It's that sort of film.. you have to leave your brains back at home and enjoy the harmless fun. The film is fast-paced and has some genuinely funny moments. In a short special appearance, Johnny Lever brings the house down with his gag on Arvind Kejriwal and Kambli : Tendulkar. The songs in the film remind you of David Dhawan films in the 90s. An introduction song right at the beginning, one item number, a song when the hero first looks at the heroines photo, a couple of songs while they day-dream. In short, about 5-6 unnecessary songs.. a must for massy-films. Akshay Kumar plays his part well. Much like his comic-timing, Akshay's style and body language while performing the action sequences is unmatched in the industry. Asin looks beautiful. A non-actor like Himesh Reshammiya is wasting his time trying too hard to act. Mukesh Tiwari is very good. Mukesh Tiwari as Himesh's sidekick is brilliant. Mithun Chakraborty excels in a role that's similar to Housefull 2. Raj Babbar is good. Sadly, Mukesh Rishi who makes a comeback after a long time doesn't have too many dialogues. Overall, Khiladi 786 is a one-time watch. A typical masala entertainer : forced action sequences, loud characters, too many songs, storyline without an iota of logic or sense.. the latest Khiladi film has got it all. Love such films? Enjoyed watching Ready/Son Of Sardar/Bol Bachchan? Go ahead, book your Khiladi 786 tickets now! The rest, can skip this. Rating: Other notes and box office: I enjoyed both Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2 a lot more than Khiladi 786. The response at a multiplex in Mumbai was mixed, 50-60% of the audience were thoroughly enjoying the film. The rest were silent, a few walked out in between. So.. Khiladi 786 will not be universally successful like the two other Akshay Kumar films this year. It will work big time at mass-centres, but business at big city multiplexes will drop Monday onwards. Dabangg 2 Android App Review - 2013 Bollywood Movies Review
The official app of Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg 2 is out! While the iPhone/iPad app is expected to be out in the App Store soon, the makers have released the Android version in the Google Play Store. The free-for-download app, downloaded pretty quickly (Size: 20MB) on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (the device we used for testing). The first time you open up the application, you'd need to register with your mobile no and email address. The app would then send a verification code via SMS. Dabangg 2 Android app Why the app is worth downloading.. The Android app has almost every detail that you need to know about Khan's upcoming Christmas release Cast and Crew complete with the actors biography and details about the character that he/she plays in the film. Videos, HD Wallpapers, behind the scenes footage, latest news, on the sets.. the app has got it all. All the song promos that have been released so far are included. You'd need to be connected to the internet to watch the videos, as the app takes you to the built-in Youtube application. The Dabangg 2 app also lets you find nearby theatres and book tickets online. Although currently it loads a blank page, tickets should be available as soon as the advance booking opens in theatres. Best of all.. its FREE and given it's small size even users with 2G speeds should be able to download it. Negatives Music not included: Recently, quite a few movie apps released with the entire music album. Unfortunately, you can't listen to full songs here. The App only works in Portrait mode (Landscape mode is disabled). Also, the back' button on Android devices is only used to quit the application, so in-app navigation is a little difficult. For a high-budget Bollywood film, that is expected to be one of the year's biggest hits, it's a pity that the makers have included Google ads at the bottom of every page. Overall, it's a must-download for Salman Khan fans. The app has got plenty of D2 content to keep you entertained. The only missing feature is the music album. Rating: Update: Playing around the app a little more, there are quite a few bugs that will hopefully get fixed soon. The How to use' option for wallpapers, displays instructions for the iPhone and not Android devices. Also, Set as Wallpaper' doesn't work. We have emailed the tech team regarding this. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } Dabangg 2 Android APP HOT MODELS BIKINI PHOTO SHOOT PICTURES
